I CANNOT WAIT for this album to come out. I'm a huge Korn fan and this is one of the VERY FEW things MTV has gotten right in there past 10 years.
Korn aside some of the "unplugged" albums have been the best ever made.
Nirvana and Eric Clapton unplugged both come to mind.
anywho, freak on a leash featuring amy lee is pretty good.
-
I hate how most musicians think that if they play the song with an acoustic guitar rather then the guitar it was really meant for, then they are some how more sensitive or emotional. Yet it always ends up sounding like crap and they suddenly become giant sweetheartbags.
I like Korn. I like Evanescance. However, hearing that abortion that came out of the unplugged studio made me just want to start kicking babies.
-
Seems like any musical post made here makes you want to club seals, laser.
Is there anything you do like? Lawrence Welk maybe?
-
anda one anda two...
:D
-
Hey, it's not my fault that the only music that people are posting about is bad music.
But onto good music. I'm personally starting to get into Dio. I've always loved Holy Diver, and just the style always gets me going.
-
BOC RULES.
-
Eh, as a solo artist he's ok, Holy Diver's good. I thought his best work was with Black Sabbath. Neon Knights...now that's one badass song.

That was a funny script...With Christopher Walken right?
-
Yes, C.W. as Bruce Dickinson, the producer.
BOC was just here last week. Played in Galveston for Mardi Gras.
I could hear the cowbell from here!!
-
ive got a fevah!

Yea, ever since that show they started using that thing more as a joke. Reminds me of a story I read about a concert that Bob Dillon did and the next day the paper said that the only song he performed well on was Brass Bed. So after that he made sure he sung it poorly.
P.S. BOC likes to mess with the media. When they are being interviewed by someone who knows nothing about them they will come off as being serious but in reality they are poking fun at the interviewer. It can be real funny reading some of the articles when most people don't get the joke.
-
Anyway, back on topic.
I'd be kind of interesting to hear Korn acoustically. Never been much of a fan but I'd like to give it a listen to.
One of the first Unplugged shows MTV did was Stevie Ray Vaughan/Joe Satriani. Stevie tore up that 12 string like it was a Strat. Unfreakingbelievable.
-
NM was thinking about tool lol my bad
-
I didn't know that MTV still played songs.:huh
P.S. Amy Lee is a FOX
-
I think I heard a preview of Freak On A Leash with Amy Lee unplugged, it was one of their acoustic songs anyway, and I didn't like it. Jonathan Davis just doesn't have the voice for an acoustic set in my opinion, too abrasive.

It's a pretty good song by itself. It just sounds rediculous to be sung (sang?) with a soft voice. They get to the 'Go' part, and instead of dropping it, they keep it and have Amy Lee solo sing in the background. Any credibility for an unplugged album shot out the window with this few seconds of the song.
The original music video was friggin awesome.

A note about BOC. They still tour and they put on a great show. I saw them last year in Fairfield, CA at tiny little venue. An audience of only 100 maybe which is a shame but they still went for it. They have a couple of young guys on bass and drums and both were impressive I thought. Anyway, even if you're not a huge fan of theirs it's well worth the price of admission if you like to see an accomplished guitarist doing his thing. Buck's playing was flawless. He makes it look and sound so easy.

I 100% disagree with you. Amy Lee has an incredible voice and the melodic nature of acustic instruments takes a hard edge song and makes it soft while retaining alot of the darkness that the song has.
I can't stand whiners that complain and dribble every time somthing "orriginal" is re-done.
Nirvana,
I think his harsh voice is what makes it intresting. It's outside the norm completly.
Some of the other songs on the set absolutly suck because his voice just ruins them like coming undone.
-
Ya, Amy Lee has a smoking voice. There are some of Ev's songs I don't particularly care for( a bit slow for me) but will listen to for the sake of Amy Lee's voice. Of course, Bring me to Life just stomps... that opening base makes me whole car rumble.
-
Just listened to the redone Freak on a Leash w/ Amy Lee...
Sounded great!
I also like the live piano version of 3am by Matchbox Twenty. They took this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5cr87fWZGfk and made it something that had the people shut up and listen.
I can't find the solo piano 3am on YouTube but it's good and it's a different take on a familiar song. It's also done by the original artist. Same goes for Korn. To see a band take a step off of their path and have a different approach to their material (especially if it's good as is the case with that Korn video and many of the Unplugged features) is refreshing.
Between Storytellers, Unplugged and now Crossroads VH1 gets a thumbs up from me.
-
Korn is horrible music.

wtf?

wow...Korn unplugged is so incredibly gay.

one man's gay is another man's.......
hmm, I'm without a snappy come back on this on. ;)
If you look at the cover of Creep video (horrible cover IMHO) they got a cool instrument that they use through out the CD. The best way to describe it is a "Spinning glass machine" Pretty cool stuff.

They need to spend less time at the Halloween store picking out masks and focus on creating original music.

I'm pretty sure they write their own stuff.

311 would do an awesome unplugged set
-
Now if you wanna talk about some good acoustic, i'd say Sublime...Too Bad BN overdosed over 10 years ago.
BN & Friends is a cool cd though.

Yup that would be pretty cool. Like I said earlier, I think MTV Unplugged has been one of the few gemstones of MTV from the last 15 years.
Aerosmith unplugged would be pretty cool. There's something about backing up a rock band with a symphony that just looks and sounds cool.
-
Who is a more ugly creation....Jonathon Davis or the Predator?
OR...ARE THEY IDENTICAL TWINS! haha
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_0iLQ51an4
Zack Wyldes memorial song to Dimebag...Much better than Korn
-
IMHO Korn uses way too much distortion to play a good unplugged set. i think that the thing that makes MTV unplugged sets good are that you here songs u know well in raw form.
as far as 311 goes..... one cover song for an adam sandler movie does not a good acoustic set make.
people heard nirvana and more specifically Alice in Chains and felt that raw artistic vibe, while korn requires too much studio time to put out an album
-
Nothing will ever beat Alice in Chain's unplugged performance.

Do you follow music? You do realize 311 is much larger than "one cover song for an Adam Sandler movie"

there have been many great unplugged performances, but yeah, that one is at the top for me too
-
311 rules. Easily my favorite band. Followed by Janes Addiction (Porno for Pyros)
-
DANG I forgot about ALice in Chains unplugged. That album rocked and I'm pretty sure I own it.
I wasn't a huge Foo Fighters fan until I heard their "skin and bones" album wich is basically a live unplugged set.
-
Are you serious? Foo Fighters are another band that need to stay away from acoustic guitars...
I was going to let you have your opinion, but now you must know how crazy this is.
You can't take a hard edged song and make it soft, that's the whole point of it. It's rediculous to try. It makes them sound like candy assed fools.
-
On a side note Dio is touring with the rest of the guys in black sabbeth calling themselves "Heaven and Hell" guess they don't want to make sharon mad LOL and I believe they have some new music coming out as well.
"HEAVEN AND HELL will kick off a world tour with 11 Canadian dates beginning March 11 in Vancouver, British Columbia, and wrapping up March 28 in Ottawa, with opening acts MEGADETH and DOWN. Additional U.S. dates will come later in the year."
I really hope they make to Texas !
"
:D

I listen to alot of styles of music and I know that if you dont like the kind of music being played, it doesn't matter if its amped or accoustic. Some people will never like Korn-
Not yet mentioned, and surely worthy of note for accoustic merrit, Eric Clapton.
-
korn lol they were heavy metal but they are slowly going into the media. korn turned really lame when they made the twisted transistor song. im sorry but they were once heavy metal now they are just doing rock and roll stuff. i dont know its hard to explain but i think society is taking them over.
-
Its the classic story- once again, and already been repeated. It's inevitable that a band or even a solo artist will change after a huge album success. Wealth and fame have a tendency to change peoples lives, wich often changes the music they create.

Yes you can. Everlong sounds just as good played solo on an acoustic as it does by the whole band. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGQAfolOJUI
Like I said earlier, you throw a bunch of stringed instruments into the mix and you have a pretty good cross over of music. It may seem weird to have a symphony playing rock music but it is music none the less.
I love "skin and bones", it's just good music.
Not to mention usually unplugged music is recorded LIVE.
