My X45 is almost dead after a few years of use. Spikes all over the place.
Is the X52 a twisty stick? or does it have the rudder control on the throttle like the 45?
-
I am not using one, but it is a twisty and does not have the rudder rocker underneath the throttle.

Twisty, work fine, rudder lock on bottom of stick.

For the money it's a pretty good HOTAS. You have the option of locking the twist handle and adding a pair of peds. Saitek now makes rudder pedals and they're much more solid than the CH Peds I once had.
You'll find the X52 stick a bit more loose than the X45. I'd suggest you go to Best Buy, etc and see how you like it. The X52 Pro was just released and the tension is touted to be tighter as Saitek added a 2nd counter-spring to the stick.

aha, so thats how they get you to buy a set of peds, by making it twisty.
I really liked that rudder rocker, if I have to buy pedals might as well go CH, I've always heard they have the best set-up.
Any truth to that?

what's wrong on your x45, the throttle or the jstick?
I use my X45 throttle with a saitek profile and the x52 jstick programmed within AH and a set of ch pro peds for rudder

If you go for pedals try out the Saitek ones. They're wider than the CH's and have adjustible pedal sizes and tension. They're excellent pedals and from those that have tried both the Saitek is usually rated better primarily because of the width.
