I see post after post of planes and goodies, some good, some not-so-good.
I don't however see any recent posts on my beloved Wirbelwind, so again I must refresh everyones memory on this much needed and celebrated WWII vehicle.

What's the firing rate and ammo load out on that thing? There are many uses I could find for it, if the price is right. Or ammo load out as it were.

1x "name of gun"... the gun name is for a unit that has 4 guns firing at once.
Basically you'd get 800 rpg I think.

This would be a nice perk GV. 4 cannons firing high into the sky at diving planes. Getting about 4 hits on a plane and then BOOM!

Wirbelwind and Ostwind were fitted with very similar (especially designed) open-top (Wirbelwind's turret had 9 side panels and Ostwind's had 6 side panels) turrets mounted in the place of standard turrets. Ostwind's turret was nicknamed Keksdose - cookie tin. Main difference was that Wirbelwind was armed with quadruple 20mm Flak 38 L/112.5 guns while Ostwind was armed with single 37mm Flak 43 L/89 gun (both could be used against ground targets as well). 20mm Flak proved to be less effective than 37mm Flak and was eventually replaced by it. Both were produced by Ostbau Works in Sagan, Silesia in limited numbers due to the material shortages and the fact that Ostbau Works moved to facilities of Deutsche Eisenwerke in Teplitz and Duisburg due to danger of being overrun by the Soviets. Overall from May to November of 1944, only 87(105) Wirbelwinds were made, contrary to only 44(43) Ostwinds produced from July 1944 to March of 1945. Both vehicles were issued to Flugabwehrzug (AA platoons) units of Panzer Divisions. There were never enough of them to equip frontline units, which were in the need for adequate mobile AA defense. Both proved to be very effective against low flying aircraft. The interesting fact is that prototype Ostwindwas combat tested by 1st Waffen SS Panzer Division "Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler" during the Ardennes Offensive (December 16 to 22 of 1944) and returned to factory undamaged.

I'll still request the addition of the Flugabwehr-Kanone, or FLaK 36, with the long barreled 88mm cannon, first. Manned puffy ack. Long range indirect artillery. Long range direct fire. HE, AP, Smoke, AA. Towed and deployable.

'Schwere Gustav' was not used against civilian targets. Its first targets were some coastal batteries that were engaged at a range of about 25000 m (27,340 yards), and all shots were observed by a special Luftwaffe flight of Fieseler Fi-156 Storchs assigned to the gun. Eight shots were all that were required to demolish these targets, and later the same day a further six shots were fired at the concrete work known as Fort Stalin. By the end of the day that too was a ruin and preparations were made for the following day. It might be thought that 14 rounds in a day was slow going, but in fact it was good going for a gun with a calibre of 80 cm (31.5 in). At best the firing rate was one round every 15 minutes, and more often the interval was longer. The preparation of each shell and charge was considerable and involved several stages including taking the temperature of each charge, accurately computing the air temperature and wind currents at altitude, and getting the shell and the charge to the breech. Projectile and charge then had to be rammed accurately, and the whole barrel had to be elevated to the correct angle. It all took time.

I agree the Flak36 (German 88) would also be a great addition to the game to combat high alt bombers and armor attacks.
Towable & deployable, would add a interesting twist to the game.

The 88 would be fun, wouldnt have prox fuses for puffy ack tho - would make it quite difficult to hit anything with an individual gun.

The 88mm's used a timed fuse and coordination from central fire control director.

A manned 88 mm or 5" ground gun does not need the proxy fusing when firing AA it just needs a timer function for fuse setting.
When in the gun what ever control is set to normally set the engine rpm on an AC can be used to set the time delay on the fuse. The readout could be in seconds or the read out could convert the fuse delay time to an equivalent range to detonation.
Of course, then it comes down to the timing element in the simple aiming sites used in-game. FlaK36 in AA role had central fire control centers with the fancy optics and communications to radar stations, to determine direction, speed, and altitude of the target.... that was transmitted to the guns, where crew set the fuze and they fired. Considering the carpet of ack you see in many WWII bomber films, they were pretty accurate too.
Or, for simplicity's sake, since the code is already there for 5 inch guns and auto puffy ack already, and the end result is very similar, using that code in place of coming up with a whole new AA site for the vehicle could be an alternative. KISS principle.
