at the age of 94.
Saw it posted elsewhere. Alex was one of the cheif test pilots with Supermarine, well known in Spit circles. He'd been a pre-war racing pilot. He'd flown in a 2 seat Spit as late as last year I believe.
His book "Sigh for the Merlin" is one of the classic Spit books.

He was MUCH more than "just" a Spit pilot. I've been reading Aeroplane (British Monthly Magazine) for years and his articles have always been a favourite.
I hope Aeroplane publishes them separately.
Mr Henshaw, RIP.
