Title: For the Spit fans...Alex Henshaw passed away...
Post by: Guppy35 on February 27, 2007, 12:07:47 AM
at the age of 94.

Saw it posted elsewhere.  Alex was one of the cheif test pilots with Supermarine, well known in Spit circles.  He'd been a pre-war racing pilot.  He'd flown in a 2 seat Spit as late as last year I believe.

His book "Sigh for the Merlin" is one of the classic Spit books.

He was MUCH more than "just" a Spit pilot. I've been reading Aeroplane (British Monthly Magazine) for years and his articles have always been a favourite.

I hope Aeroplane publishes them separately.

Mr Henshaw, RIP.
