When The Tigers Broke Free (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYtGsvoBVw8)
Taking up from that other thread, there are parts of The Wall in the movie that aren't on the album. This is one of those parts. It's autobiographical on the part of Roger Waters' loss of his father in WWII, as I recall. I've watched the movie a million times but I have to admit everytime this part comes on I do get a little choked up. And that, my friends, is what good art is about.
-
Damn it, Now I'm going to have to watch it for the Billionth and one time...:furious
I only own maybe 10 DVDs, and that's one of them.

Hehe, payback's a *****!!
:D

As a Pink Floyd fan and general classic rock enthusiast, I can say with no remorse that this song is horrible and sucks. I think the only reason you like it is because it has a war video to accompany it.
-
And you'd be wrong.
But we're used to that.

Everyone is entitled to their own taste but it blows my mind that you can't see the artistry in that video.

Two remote control Stuka's were used in the film. I believe for In the Flesh to open the film. The one that they show diving was crashed for effect. Nick Mason (drummer) still has the other one.
DiabloTx, pm me. I have the "re-released Final Cut" on CD. It now has When the Tigers Broke Free on it. I can send you a "Care Package" of Pink Floyd. I have some rare things as well.
-
I have the 45 of this song... with the B-side "Bring the boys back home" movie version. It created quite a buzz at the time because it said it was from the upcoming album "The Final Cut" which was the first announcement of the new album. Of course, "Tigers" wasn't on the album.
Good song, in it's context... it's not meant to be a good ol' rock 'n roll song.

Good find Diablo.

While I like Floyd and The Wall, I've always found Roger to be a whiny bastige.

Hehe, all the more reason why the won't break!
Yeah Waters is a bit of a whiney bastage but that's also what makes him such a great artist.
Karaya, I'll send ya a PM, I'd like to know what you have in your stash of rareties.

I'm convinced that Amused to Death is a work of pure genius. It was hard to listen to at first, but after a couple of dedicated sittings (with headphones) it became one of my all-time favorite albums.

Yea but when "artsy" becomes a bad thing, there's nowhere else to go. Are you that in to technical?

I lose Amused to Death after What God Wants Part 3. IMO, the last few songs are "filler". It is pure genius though. The title of it says it all.

Listen to "The Gold It's in the..." off of Obscured by Clouds. It'll kick your "emotional" hangup in the nuts.
They never were about "flash", just perfection. But someone of your "caliber" wouldn't know that.
