I'm not sure what you call it but i'm looking for a clean version of the U.S. Insignia that has the red outline. Haven't had any luck finding one, I just need something to get the dimensions and colors straight in illustrator.
been seeing a lot t shirts with the RAF logo so i figured i'd make my own with that one.

Ben Sherman and Lambretta use a target as their logo: -

It isn't anything affiliated with the Royal Air Force.

This link (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/3222616.stm) tells a different story though....

That link says that they are fighting to use it completely separate from the RAF. It is therefore not affiliated with the RAF.

Thing is, it sounds to me like those companies are actively capitalizing on the familiarity of the RAF roundel. Most archery targets, at least, DON'T have that order of colors. Most have a yellow center, followed by red, blue, black and white:

Most targets for firearms are even simpler than that, with a dark center (black, gray, green, red, etc) and white outer ring (both sections are further subdivided by other ring).
So if they were "just" using a target design, why are they using one that is clearly patterned off the RAF roundel?

I'm no expert on the matter... but i doubt that they would want to agree to any association with the RAF because it is a military organisation. A company of that size would want to appeal to a wide customer base.
Most people probably wouldnt realise it is an RAF roundel if they saw it on a t-shirt anyway.

i've seen it listed under RAF on one sight, and just figured thats what it was. my brother that doesn't know much about WWII planes and stuff asked if that what it was the other day when we saw someone wearing it.
