Aces High Bulletin Board

I recently switched to a widescreen monitor, and I noticed that using the widescreen resolution does not seem to adjust my FoV accordingly. I lose the lower portion of my instrument panel, (especially noticeable in the F4)and apparently some of my upper view as well. If it is a FoV problem, then it is also affecting SA, as it will alter the appearance of distance on other planes relative to how they are seen in "normal" 4:3 aspect.
Is there a way for me to adjust FoV, either in-game or in a configuration file? Also, if I did adjust FoV, would it be conisdered a "cheat" by the server (even though I am just wanting to bring it back to where it should be, not trying to make an unfair advantage here)

I believe that I read someplace on these boards that the FoV is already maxed out in aces high. Other games give you a smaller FoV and you have to make up for the missing spots with the other views, but Aces high is as big as you can get. While this is great for the normal 4:3 aspect monitors it sucks in the wide screen stuff. You can stretch the screen, but all that will do is fill the screen, not show you more.
Check out this Link on the BBS (http://forums.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=193053&highlight=Field+View) I found in a search.

Thanks for the link, this is the answer I was looking for.
Oddly, before posting I did a key word search for field of view, and this post didn't come up.
Gotta start working on the wife for a trackIR :)

Blackwulf, just a side note on search function peculiarities: did you search for "field view" or for "field of view"?
The latter will not yield results as the search terms need to have at least 4 letters....

I noticed the same thing after getting my new monitor.
I too seem to have lost a little bit of view on top in particular is where I've noticed it most.
In any event with more and more people having a Wide screen as the norm.
HTC may want to consider addressing this.

I believe I did the search for field of view, assuming the 2 letter word would be ignored, as well as enclosing it in quotes. But frankly, with the hours I have been putting in at work, and at home with repairs, I prolly looked right at it and missed it. So the forum search function is not a typical boolian search, I take it?
Either way, it has not been a major problem, I just programmed the mini stick on my thottle to allow me to shift my view down/up and side to side, so I can pop down for a quick view of what instruments I can't see, with an added bonus of now being able to shift around in my seat when I need to spot ground targets better.
So, a "fix" would be more convenient, but I certainly am comfortable with the work-around I'm using. In my case, as well, my gunnery has actually improved. as the change in apparent lead more closely matches my lousy aim, though I also think having a much clearer picture isn't hurting either :)
I did not realize just how bad the picture on my ancient CRT was until I made the switch. Widescreen or not, these new monitors are very nice indeed, and worth the minor inconveniences.
When money allows, I do still plan to pick up a TrackIR, as I keep hearing so many good things about them, but it will be a while, as fixing my roof, and avoiding banishment to the couch are still a little higher priority :D
