b56,

this is usually some sort of hardware/driver problem.
Can you post a dxdiag report for us here?

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are the steps to do this:

1) Go to "Start" from the Windows desktop
2) Select "Run" from the pop up menu
3) In the Run dialog box, type DXDIAG and press
4) After a few seconds the DXDIAG utility will be ready (the progress indicator in the lower left corner will disappear).
5) Run the video and sound diagnostics (Select the Display and Sound tabs to do this).
6) Press the "Save All Information" button
7) This will save the DXDIAG data to a file of your choice
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just copy paste the first third of the file into your post here

That is a very low end system. While you could maybe get the game to run on that CPU and such a low amount of ram, you'll never get it to work with that video card. Sorry , but its time to upgrade.

b56, I have some bad news for you.

The video controller you have isn't going to be able to run AHII. If it does, it won't run it with any form of playability.  IE your frame rates are going to be in the single digits.  (I don't think it will run the game at any rate).

Other than that,  480 MB of RAM is barely enough even if you had a better video card.

You can try this anyway:

In video settings (the first screen you see when you launch AH) set your resolution to 800X600, and set your max texture size to 128.

Once in game click on options then graphic detail:

Set object detail slider all the way to the right. Also set graphic detail all the way to the right.

Put an X in the box labeled "disable other plane skins", leave all the other boxes blank.

Hope this helps a bit, but I think your system isn't really good enough.

Good luck.

cheers,
RTR

I'm pretty sure it's due to your video controller (That is the SiS 651FX  etc etc etc listed in the DXDIAG file).

You will need to upgrade (is that a laptop by chance?).

sorry:(

Because the video card is so baisc you would probably get a noticeable improvement by getting a more powerfull one. You might get something on Ebay for a tenner that is better than you have. I'm guessing that if you have a desktop PC you have an AGP graphics slot

Hey b56.

You could get a whole new PC for about £500 these days that are easily capable of running AH.

Ive never heard of anyone getting a SiS integrated graphics chip to work with AH. Skuzzy might contradict me any time of course.

Believe it or not I got an Sis graphics to work with AH.

800X600, 128 textures, lowest settings imaginable.

Got a whopping 2 FPS in offline mode!

Did I mention this was a 450MHZ PIII?

Installed an old AGP 32MB ATI card I had...

This time got 8 FPS on offline mode!  (Also this is sitting on runway)

Tried online mode... sitting in tower.. 3-4FPS.. then someone kicked on VOX and it was like looking at a screenshot! haha

Anyways I gave up playing AH that day.. at least with that system.

Thanks Skuzzy!  (boy that's a first!) (I mean a first for me ...not a first for me owing Skuzzy thanks..grovel ...grovel..etc)

heh, actually I was able to get a sis650 controller to work with barely playable FR (until more than 3 or 4  cons showing up anyway). I was able to get 20 to 30 FR in a very unbusy area at High altitude.

Was a fun experiment, but luckily just an eperiment.

And....b56, come back when you are able...there is more in this game than the game. Lots of good peopel here!

Please excuse me speeling...I had`a few scotches tonight...I'm normally much moire coherent!
