Title: Oxymorons for toolshedders
Post by: T0J0 on March 04, 2007, 09:11:35 AM
I keep seeing the phrases
"Win at all costs:
or
"Defend at all costs"

Which is similar to "Jumboshrimp" "Government organization" "taped live"etc

When refering to the toolshedders war on virtual concrete and lumber...

And Im wondering when a toolshedder chest puffs with the defend at all costs phrase, how is that fun? Why the fixation on destroying or protecting CGI homedepot products?

What is this "All cost" and how much does it cost in virtual costs?
Maybe you toolshedders are like removing fingers with a hacksaw if you loose a base to incure some real loss with pain?

Second day of playing someone on text was going on about how the goal of the game was to WIN  and take airfields. When I said maybe it wasn't, I had maybe 4 or 5 people telling me "I didn't get it".

I thought that was a queer way to look at this sim, I thought the point of a video game was to have fun  ;)

point of the game,,in you individual oppinion may be to have fun...

,But WINNING has a fun all its own, now doesnt it?

I could care less about the war. Im rarely around to see the reset when it comes. Ive yet to see a victory parade. Its always the same. "You have T-4 minutes until arena reset" (Whoooop whooop!) Then wham. Re-enter, start again.

No matter whats going on in "the war", whats important to me is "the battle" thats happening at the moment Im on. Be it in a fighter, trying to find a good area to fight in, bombing a target, sitting in a 5inch gun, even tooling around in a GV, whatever Im doing at that moment is whats important.

One day...
"Kill the ack!!" No. Not right now. Im on a fighter sweep and really dont want a robot ack gun to ruin my moment of fun.

Another day..
"Kill the ack!!" Ok, otw, I have bombs for the GV too.

It all depends on the mood. The war doesnt exist for me.

If owning more little chess pieces than the other guys floats your boat, then by all means, just dont berate people who actually want to do some of the flying in aces high. ;)

Thankfully, you can find anything you want in AH.  GV's, buffs, toolshedding, and outright dogfighting.

I continue to be amazed at the denigration of anyone not enjoying the game YOUR way.

Do you really require such validation in life, that what you do is the only answer and everyone else is a moron?

Pay your $15 and play the game your way.   Let others play it their way.

True oxymorons for toolshedders:

While flying over... "The hangers are down"

While in a GV... "High (insert plane type here)"

WOW this coming from a guy who doesn't play, and when he did he was a toolshedder. And my friend and X-squaddie, I believe ya need to paying 14.95 to be making these comments, and actually play the game. and most importantly know how to dogfight when ya do play. which ya don't.

Talk about posting for the sake of posting, why don't ya just hold up a sign that says "Look at Me"

seriously disapointed in ya, stirrin the pot in the O'club is one thing, comin here to start crop and incite the younger chest thumpers is wrong.

This subject has been beaten past death

and before you try and retort with "I said it's my observation"

I know what your up to, just stirrin

now back away from the keyboard and go get some sun ya pasty white pot stirrer

OK Geary I got it now! "At all cost" is in relation to the cost of Hot pockets and cheesy Poofs during the Battle to defend virtual concrete...  Or a twelve pack of Budlight with a fresh date... "At all cost" Pity I was wrong about the hacking off of fingers though....

you are kidding right, most of the best battles i have ever seen have been over base taking,
But, thats the great thing about the game, you can play it so many different ways and have fun.
Why is it people attack each other for it.I just don't get that.

 All hail the forum warriers!

The noob Generals have been out in force lately.  I had a noob named W1lk tell me how stupid I am because I didn't care if we lost a particular base.  The guy typed so much that I and several others were forced to squelch him.  Friendly attempts to advise him there were other goals in the game were met w/ insults.  We still need a permasquelch option, IMHO.

Hacksaw???? That is almost insulting, I would never use such a low tech tool for removing my fingers... I use the sawsall I keep by my desk. Its just a question of do I feel like using the big nasty toothed wood cutting blade or the nice fine toothed metal cutting one?? :D....

P.S.  I really do have a sawsall sitting by my desk... :)

Funny seems to me, you're the one whom seems to be trying to thump his little chest via this post. Who are you to think he has the right to tell people how they can enjoy their game?

There are many diffrent things you can do in this game and many styles of play that can be had. Hell I started driving tanks the end of last tour and I'm planning on driving them more often in this tour because I'm doing pretty good in them.

So it's fine that you seem to enjoy one little aspect of this game, it's your $15, but quit complaining about people who like other or even multiple aspects of this game, because it's their $15 dollars to spend.

Seems to me this entire post was ment to berate people that want to win the war. If that's what floats their boat, then it's their boat to float, Same as your post it seems.

So I'm just waiting for one of the can't do anything but furball types.. to start complaining about the base takers capturing TT again. How long before we see another post about that.

Title: My Thoughts
Post by: 4deck on March 05, 2007, 11:46:07 AM
First. I like to Win. I Play all aaspects of this sim. From the SEA on Sindays and Wednesdays to the fantastik nightly get togethers. First I play with a serious bunch of fellows when were actually thinking about doing something, like blowing the living crap out of stuff:aok , but then I really enjoy flying solo in a hurricane after the day is out. So realistically the game has different facists to me. But Mostly WINNING, is very kewl. Very Kewl indeed. Ive only been able to be around for maybe 4 times ever in 9 months, but It alwas blows me away when we get so close, and blow it. But Ive learned through therapy to get over it now:rofl :cry . But in all serious having fun is the first thing, and to me losing isnt having fun, so I just go up and drop a egg on somehting, or up something, and kill someone and I feel better.:aok

Hahahahaha a whole new bunch of Toolshedder little gens outed I see here.

Good to see some newbs, like quintv, come here and actually get it.  I was afraid the latest rash of newbs would be polluted by the win at all costs rather than fight in the air at all cost mentality.

Join the minority and strike down these outhouse battlers with your 50s and if your lucky you'll run into a few like minded people that just want to fight and all will be good for a very short while until the hanger nazis arrive.  :aok :rofl :rofl :rofl

There was a time long ago when this game was only and all about those that could fight in the air.  Now we are a fading breed snuffed out by whordes of building battlers that fear the Mano e Mano fight for sake of bruising their little egos.  :rofl :rofl :rofl

Welcome to the Dark side tj, bout time.  :aok

Gameplay in Aces High
"Capturing territory through the use of air, land and sea power is the objective of Aces High.   The arena terrain is divided into three countries, with each country starting with an equal number of fields, towns, cities, task groups, and a single headquarters for each country.  All countries have an equal amount of territory at the beginning of a war."

That’s not my opinion, that’s not my wish or hope,  it’s just the way it is.  That’s the object of the game, as stated by HiTechcreations.

It's not a lie, it is the truth.  As stated by HiTech.  The object of the game is to capture fields.  That doesn't mean you can't fly, fight and have fun.  It's all good.
