Turns out 21st Century toys is doing a 1/18th scale version to go with all their other birds. Not quite 1/1 scale for your Dad, but getting closer :)

Sticking to Franklin Mint, Armour P38s here. I have em all but 1 now. 15 down, 1 to go. The first one too :( Harder to find.

Which one are you looking for ?

The original effort with the shark mouths on the intakes. 20th FG bird.
Someone at Franklin Mint is biased to the 20th clearly with 4 of them:)
3 475th, 2 80th FS 1 370th FG, 1 367th FG, 1 49th FG, Yippee and 2 Recce F5s. and Bong's 5th HQ bird.
Not a single MTO bird yet.

That's a big girl!
Did you ask Bodhi about them Guppy? He's got quite a few of the armour collection, I'll go see if I can find the list and check for you.
I might have found it here (http://www.aikensairplanes.com/franklinmint48/armour98112.htm) It's the only one with shark mouths on the intakes.

That is huge!
I'm not sure where my Dad would put something that big. If he can find a place though, I'll get him one.
Thanks, Dan!

What we do know is that this beast of an airplane will measure
45" in wingspan and almost 36" in length,
 That's as tall as some of my squaddies.

He can mount it on a flagpole and pretend he's still living on base Toad

I LIKE that idea!

Would that be a "Front Door Guard" instead of a "Gate Guard"? :)

I've been collecting the 1:18 aircraft for about eight months now, and they are all rather large. The smallest I have in my collection is the 109e-4 with a wingspan a little under two feet. The largest I have is the P38 with a wingspan around three feet. IIRC the b25, (which was just anounced by 21st on 2/28/07) will have a wingspan around four feet. Yes I will have to get one if it does actually go into production. Where I will put it is another question all together. The F4 Phantom is another must have,(hopefuly in Showtime 100 paint scheme) again where I will put it is another problem.

Man i'm already running out of room with the 1/18's i have , I cant wait to see one . Walmart is the only place around me that has them , and they usually get 10-15 of the same plane . I have to give them as gifts to kids and family members just to get them to order something different . lol
