Ok I just killed 15 GV's in a Tiger during a pretty good fight. I drove the tank all the way back to the base, stopped on the cement pad right next to a bomber hanger. I was on the cement and I confirmed that I was on the cement because I recorded the entire sortie.
However when I landed, I get the "you have ditched" message and I lose the gained perks for all the kills and the perks from the Tiger. So what is the deal with landing a tank? I've always thought all you had to do was land on a cement pad at either the town or the base, am I wrong?
BTW if this is a glitch and someone from HT wants to look at it, I do have the sortie filmed and have the screen shot of the lost perks. It's kinda lame to lose all the perks and so on after getting that many kills.
I feel robbed because I'm fairly new to the tanks and that's the most kills I've had in a sortie. :cry

The base wasn't yours

Yes it was our base. Ack was full up and wasn't shooting me.
Here is a picture of where I parked the tank to end the sortie.

(I just changed the DNS on the domain so the pic might 404 for some)

Glitch. Same thing happened to me the other night on the runway. Dead center, middle of a friendly field, ditched.

Good then it is a confirmed glitch so hopefully HT will too look into it. The whole perks and so on isn't a big issue but being I just started the whole GV thing this tour for the most part, that's a good chunk of perks to lose because of a game glitch.
Means less Tiger dweebing for me
BTW this is the film.. 6.5mb (54 mins) :(
Film Link (http://www.strafing.com/temp/15kills-tiger.ahf)
It's loooog but you can fast forward it if you want.. The action starts about 17 mins in. and the "ditched" landing glitch is at the end somewhere around 50 mins.
(sorry I tried to edit the film with the editor to shorten it up but the views got messed up.
BTW tank spawn campers, this is the way to camp a spawn. I'm not big on camping spawns, but I ended up in the middle of it because I wasn't watching my map. I tried to fight my way out but they kept spawning so I had to keep fighting. After that another GV'er was there and had their spawn camped so I figured I might as well stay.
As a side note I was continuously moving and putting myself at risk, that and I left the spawn area a few times to give them a chance to re-up. I personally don't like the guys that just sit and camp, but I figure by keeping the tank rolling I was giving them a fair fight, because I was at risk of them spawning from anywhere.

Hmm Strafing.. looks like dirt kicking up behind your tracks. If you were moving any at all and not holding still you will get ditch, even on your own base. I always shut engine off and slip tranny in neutral before I hit the end sortie button.

I just examined the film. No glitch here. You were moving at the time you did end sortie. You came to a halt for a short moment, but then it seems you did roll backwards a bit, and the speed reads "1" on film viewer.
You probably weren't in neutral.

Well ither way it would be nice to have some kind of grace speed we can ditch at,even jumping off a f4u goin' 3-5mph on a runway is doable.
who cares if the plane survives, the pilot would still get his kills.
Ehem, and it would fix these minor..errors.

This use to heppen to me in AH1 as well. A fellow squaddie would land same place fine I would go to land only a few feet from him ON CONCRETE and get a ditch. I lost much perkies to this. I have found sometimes the ditch would occur if my gear was not in nuetral. So maybe this is what happened to u ..............maybe. Everytime I go to land tgr now I check gear position, pause for a moment to make sure tgr is absolutely still and then i tower out................always with fingers crossed cause I never know really if it'll land successfully. Losing tgr perks to this is almost as bad as getting killed because a gv drives up to the rear of a tgr and shoots his bb's ..........................com e on HT when you going to address this!!!! We have collision modeling for aircraft WHY NOT GV"S?????

While it does stink, when you are in a perk ride you need to take that extra second to make sure all is perfect.. I know, I have made a similar mistake..

No minor error, thats the way it works.

How is it possiable to be moving and end sortie? Any time I've ever been moving and try to end sortie, I alwats get a message saying something to the effect of "you must be stopped to end sortie"
I mean comon, honestly that's a little lame if that's true.. I can't remember but I think I even killed the engine b4 ending the sortie.

You can't "end sortie" in a plane while moving, you have to bail or stop first. In a GV, end sortie (or dot command ".ef") will send you to the tower.
I know that several times I have stopped to take a shot in a tank. If you don't stop 100%, you may start rolling again if you didn't put it in N or kill the engine.
It's a tough break that's for sure, just be more careful.. Consider it a lesson learned and move on..

Yea exactlly, if it's true about a slight movment, it's not like a freaking tank wouldn't stop on it's own if you jumped out when it was rocking back after a full stop.
Honestly it seems kinda lame to not have some sort of grace speed for this exact reason. I mean the tank rocked back wards after coming to a stop and I lose 15 kills worth of perks and the tiger perks.
I know voulching isn't a big deal in a tank specially at my own base, but because of vouching in planes, I've made it a point to end the sortie as soon as I stop rolling. In planes I've never had this issue before, so I don't see why it should be a issue in tanks.
If it's really a issue, then you shouldn't be able to end the sortie until it stops moving, which is was I thought the case was.
Rondar,
the reason there is dirt kicking up is because I snapped the screen shot a few seconds early.. I just wanted to show where I actually parked the tank.

Yea I never end the sorties by the command line.. I just do it via the clipboard..

Isn't it the case that if there is an enemy gv within 10k or so you get a ditch even on concrete at your own base?

I've never heard of that before and I've landed a tiger at a town on a gun pad while the base was under heavy attack before. Possible if you heard of someone having that happen, maybe they suffered the same fate as me with the tank slightly moving.

Nope. If you are sitting on concrete on own base, you are fine all the time.
If you are not on concrete, and no enemy is around, you get a "landed". If an enemy is around, you may get either a ditch or captured or even "xxx shot you down" depending on your location, actual enemy distance proxy kill) and if you were hit before.
(I just "landed" my T34 two times on an enemy Vfield today, because no enemies were around)

If you "bail" from a perk plane on the runway you lose the perks also.

You don't have to be in Nuetral as long as you are at a dead stop and on concrete you won't get a ditch. And you can end sortie in a vehicle while moving which sucks, it should be the same as a aircraft because I have accidentally hit end sortie when trying to select something else and poof I get a ditch.
-
Yes you can land with tranny in gear, and not moving, but I just take the extra time to put it in neutral so I KNOW I am stopped. After all we all take time to shoot and all that and drive to base which may take 30 minutes to do all that or more. It just makes no sense to not take an extra second or less to slip in neutral or make dang sure you are stopped to land kills.
I learned to STOP last year when I was first learning how to GV and got ditches. Its a lesson well learned as you dont forget to stop now lol.

Well I always make sure I'm at a full stop and most of the time I kill my engine.. I think I did so on this occasion as well, but for what ever reason the tank rocked back wards.
The problem is I was un aware that you could even end the sortie in a tank if it was moving at all. You can't do it in a plane, I mean if a plane is rolling even 1mph you can't end sortie it won't let you (at least via the clip board).
So I just ask why is it not the same for a tank? It just sucks to lose that many perk points to something so stupid. Unless you go to TT and spawn kill, perk points in GV's are hard to come by, it's not like a plane where you can find fights fairly easy.
