Quick update on SPC Thomas Vandeventer
Last Saturday , they re-opened both of his legs all the way, and re-installed the wound vacs, because of infection. Sunday his fever finally went away. Tuesday after his surgery they said he looked much better. It's about 5:30 PM Thursday he just came out of surgery again, and the doctors told me all the tissue in both legs now appear to be completely healthy. They want him to rest up and eat well tonight and tomorrow, and they are going to close him up on Saturday. So after 31 days he'll finally be closed up completely as it stands now.
I'll be here next week for sure to help him get started on his recovery efforts and wheel chair. This thing has been quite an ordeal , until you get here and see all this it's just hard to understand. I deeply appreciate every ones support, concern. He still has many challenges ahead, but it looks like the darkest and most critical tunnel finally has a light at the end of it.
My deepest thanks to all of you that have e-mailed, and sent him cards, letters, and packages.
John "Shifty" Vandeventer
