Post by: AWMac on March 09, 2007, 01:28:05 AM
New job..Kewl. Federal Gov Chit...
Did the security clearance crap before..no sweat.
"Who are you, where ya been, past criminal history..."
Alice's Resturant Crap...
I've been cleared to TSSBI SBI SCI, SI, TK and G.
All I need is fingerprints done at my local Police station.
Same bastards that held me in for "Public Intoxication" 4 Years ago..from a golf course after "I" got ran over by a golf cart from a foursome that I picked up on and was kickin they're butts.

Needless to say...

Went to get fingerprints done today... politely told I can only get fingerprints done from 8am to 12.. Hmmm... Ifluff'n I comit a crime do I wait til 8am to get fingerprinted?

Soooo... anyways... I need a haircut badly, need a shower, look a bit ruff... got my old biker watermelon colors, leathers and was figuring. I could have fun with this.  Early morn, a few shots of Vodka and a Beer, Dress in my old leathers and rags...no combing the pillow hair and let a 3 day stubble exist.

Question the Officer if I can , think a few about the fingerprinting...

I have nothing to hide...just Bored.

Mac

Since it will probably get deleted anyways:

Be carefull when embelishing stories. Nobody really cares if your job requires a security clearance or not. But people will notice if you mention all of the security clearances you received before starting a federal job.

Everyone will say congradulations if you go to boot camp and return to serve in the National Guard. But people will notice if in the same timespan required to go through basic and follow on training, you've also managed to get deployed to Iraq, get wonded, watch a buddie die, and then "go guard".

People will wish you and yours best wishes if your girlfriend makes an illegal turn in front of a geriatic lady and gets in a serious accident. But people will notice when you try to claim that while being found "not guilty" of running a red light your girlfriend was also awarded $100,000 by the traffic court judge.

I guess... if you're going to lie, make it fit the context. That way nobody will really care. I just can't believe how many people blurt pure crap out around here and then get indignant about it. Try creating a more low-key persona. Either that or realize that there isn't really a need to present yourself as anything other than you.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have an announcement to make.  Several months ago, I was informed by my employer that one of our own had become a rogue agent.  Yes, thats correct, a CIA Rogue Agent.  We have had this happen before, when one of our best F-16 pilots was mauled by a scorpion and subsequently went insane.  Folks, let me just say that the zoo accident where a man 'accidently' fell into a tank of alligator-snapping turtles ended our pursuit of Voss.  His screams still keep me awake at night.

I was appointed a special commission to hunt down the rogue AWMac.  Under the code-name of AquaShrimp, I have been hunting him for many months and across states, but he always manages to stay one step ahead of me.  It is now with much anxiety and trepidation that I have learned that AWMac has earned a Top Secret security clearance.  We have confirmed that he has plans to steal the Apollo space capsule and lunar lander plans and is going to sell them to the Chinese.  I cannot, WE cannot allow this top secret technology to fall into communist hands.

I am hearby appointing everyone that reads this as deputy members of Hero Squad.  If you come across AWMac, for heaven's sake, neutralise him with extreme prejudice!

Captain AquaShrimp
Hero Squad Leader
TOP top-secret security clearance
148 confirmed kills.

You mistake me not telling tall tales and not having PTSD for meaning I never served. I have served.

Now... why don't you actually say what you're going to be doing for the government that required you to get such high security clearances yet allowed it on such minimal information.

Is that the best you can do? Change the subject?

Come now, please explain how you've obtained so many security clearances before starting a job with the government. It's not like you just changed to a different department.

I get the feeling you're confusing a background check with a security clearance and throwing in a little white "self promotion" while you're at it. What's odd to me is why you'd need to do that. Are you really that disappointed with your life?

At the risk of "blowing the cover of a government employee", please see the following . . .

Linky (http://www.careeroverview.com/air-traffic-controller-careers.html)

Relevant quotes:
Quote
Prior to employment, applicants must also receive security clearance and pass medical and drug screening exams . . .
Hired employees enroll in a 12 week training program . . . in Oklahoma City

Quote
AWMAC Location:  In Oklahoma under the witness protection program.

I won't claim to know much about security clearances, but I do know that SI, TK and G are all caveats, which I believe restrict the data the clearance covers to very specific subsets.

Security Clearances

Confidential-
The simplest security clearance to get. This level typically requires a few weeks to a few months of investigation. A Confidential clearance requires a NACLC investigation and must be renewed (with another investigation) every 10 years.

Secret-
A Secret clearance, also known as Ordinary Secret, requires a few months to a year to fully investigate depending on the individual's activities. Some instances where individuals would take longer than normal to be investigated are many past residences, having residences in foreign countries, or have relatives outside the United States. Bankruptcy and unpaid bills as well as criminal charges will also increase the time of both the investigation and approval. A Secret clearance requires a NAC/LAC/Credit investigation and must be reinvestigated every 10 years.

Top Secret-
Top Secret is a more stringent clearance. A Top Secret, or "TS", clearance, is often given as the result of a Single Scope Background Investigation, or SSBI. Top Secret clearances generally afford one access to data that affects national security, counterterrorism/counterintelligence, or other highly sensitive data. There are far fewer individuals with TS clearances than Secret clearances. A TS clearance can take as little as 3-6 months to obtain, but more often takes 6-18 months, while sometimes taking up to 3 years to obtain. The SSBI investigation must be reinvestigated every 5 years.

Post by: Mini D on March 10, 2007, 08:28:55 PM
Oh... you're missing a bit there E.

This was a top secret TSSBI SBI SCI, SI, TK and G clearance.

Background check security clearance has been standard for most government jobs prior to employment for a couple of years. It came around as a result of so many failing the background check. This has nothing to do with the rated top secret clearances being mentioned... and I guarantee none of it happened based on a Q&A session. 12 page forms with invasive questioning on backgrounds followed up with actual interviews of references and complete histories of all direct relatives. That's just to get your foot in the door. The rest is applied for and granted as needed.

The list above looks like someone read a book listing various security clearances and picked the highest one he could find.

Dude, seriously, even I've had a secret clearance because I worked for a government contractor when I was 20.  It's not really that big of a deal.  All it meant is that, even if I knew what I was looking at that day, I was about a month ahead of Aviation Week.

My question is

What does it matter to you? It's not like Mac is some girl with bogus pics of a hot girl inviting you up for a wild weekend and when you go she turns out to be Jabba the Huts twin sister. Or, do you like, have a crush on him or something?

Just asking :D

I'll take a crack at that...

Because we have had guys in the past that have really pushed the envelope of believability. Voss, and who was that dude that claimed to be a sniper and challenged everyone to a fight? Sometimes it just gets out of hand.

I don't know AWMac, but I have to admit I thought it was weird he went to such great extent to list all the clearances he had. Seemed to be the antithesis of what a guy in that position ought to be doing. Of course I didn't serve, and I might be totally off base, but something seems off about that.

dichotomy,

Part of the issue is that anyone who has actually been read into special access programs was also briefed on the obligation to proactively guard not only the information, but also to report potential vulnerabilities.  One such vulernability which mac would have been briefed on if he was in fact granted access to special access programs, is that people blabbing about how they have this or that access are likely to be either fishing for information or are setting themselves up to become compromised.

There is a requirement, by law, for anyone with a clearance to report these vulnerabilities.  If Mac has the clearances he is bragging about having, he knows this already and he is still online bragging about how he has access to all these programs.  That makes him either a liar or a potential security vulnerability.

The problem is that he's so damned stuck up, he can't take a hint and STFU.  He is convinced it's him against the world, that people are out to get him.

The Blue Knights MC of East Texas probably wouldn`t agree with that. :)
I can think of quite a few more that wouldn`t agree either, but the Blue Knights consisting solely of law enforcement just came to mind first.

So do the Iron Pigs, but you have to be in the organization before you get your patch.

Besides, it's the context that he used it in.

I own a patch myself, but I don't parade around like I'm biker trash or a thug.

okay but explain why it affects you personally?

Someone else has in PM's and I get their point and the point has validity to it.  But if it doesn't affect you personally, if it doesn't take money out of your wallet, time out of your day, make your dog hate you, or whatever, what's the point of bashing Mac?

Sorry dude but your past kind of haunts you.  I see you as a pot stirrer / trouble maker so the validity of your posts is dimished in my eyes.

That said I'm pretty much done with this thread as I much prefer information gathering on how to be a better pile-it or something humorous to purse fighting in the intardweb :)

If memory serves me correctly, isn't AWMac going to be servicing radar and other electrical equipment at an airport?  I don't think that would require a TS clearance.

As soon as you explain how my reaction affects you personally.

I feel your status is diminished in my eyes because you seem to want to believe/defend liars. I don't know why you'd think there's some kind of honor or nobility to it. It's foolish. Your "guidance" and "help" serves to encourage it. Personally, I think it's more honorable to be honest. I don't get the feeling you agree.

much as my opinion of you matters not to you
your opinion of me matters not to me

*shrug*

you have a keyboard, an internet connection, and a e bully attitude.

Way to go there big man... I'd be impressed if I hadn't seen it thousands of times.

At least one MAN had the integrity to discuss it with me offline and presented some very real and valid concerns which I agree with and might discuss with Mac offline.  You, however, have only shown me public invective.

Defend Mac?  No I think he can do that on his own.  He doesn't need my defense, my friendship, or anything from me.

You, on the other hand, seem to need to win an e-fight.

Good job.. you win...

BTW... who am I bullying? Did I threaten anyone? Did I go tough guy mode with a "If I ever meet you in person..."? Did I actually do anything other than laugh at an obvious lie?

I don't know what I was thinking, maybe something like sodium pentathol and unfriendly interrogations... but I was surprized to read that a TS Clearance background investigation is about the same as a background investigation for a police officer applicant including the Polygraph.

The purposes of each are essentially the same; they try to establish good moral character, loyalty, reliability, responsibility, and good mental health - for the purpose of either upholding the laws of the country in one case, or protecting information critical in varying degrees to national security in the other.

One difference is the paperwork you sign if you are recommended -  paperwork that, in the case of a security clearance, puts you on the hook, and the indoctrination/education you would get specific to what it means to reveal classified info and the consequences.  And of course, for the clearance, a need for it must first be demonstrated.

either way, they're going to be talking to your ex-wives, looking into your sibs and other relatives, they will be looking at your crim history, drinking and drugging habits, medical/mental records, driving record, psych exam, Polygraph, credit history, tax returns if necessary, religious beliefs, memberships in organizations, politics, education, all records of discipline and evaluations in any job or military service you've had, talking with your neighbors in every place you've lived above the age of 7,  anything that could relate to your character.

Many people here would easily qualify for Top Secret Clearance if there were a need.

Seal of approval? Not necessary. Just try avoiding transparent lies. I know it will be tough because you're afraid people will think less of you. Trust me, they won't.
