VWE,
Id really like to know where you got that picture from. Or atleast if you know anything about it. Reason being I know a guy who flys a plane just like that one up north and all the puzzle peices in that picture match.

Just fyi, any time you'ld like to know where a pic came from 'right' click your mouse on it and scroll down to 'properties' then 'left' click on it. You'll see an address location that you can cut-n-paste into your browser... o.k. computer class is over, carry on.

Usually it links back to picture hanger. AHBBS class over.

Not a caption but a comment on ice runways: My brother was a surveyor in the Navy. He was stationed in Antarctica at least one winter. His job was to survey the ice and find the best spot to build a runway. Each summer the ice would break things up and they would have to start over.

"I sez...let's go and make for the shoreline...a we got some shrubs and some weeds over there, not exactly perfect, but at least we'll get down on land..."

The pic is the tail of a C-130 poking out of the snow in Antartica, caused by JATO that went wrong. After 17 years of being buried in the snow it was dug out, repaired, flown out, and put back into service.
