I could really go for a modern Aces High 2 with F-16's B-2's and all of the modern jets and bombers. It would be really fun.

it would be interesting, but just not doable. pick up a good modern jet sim sometime, like Lock On Modern Air Combat. The modeling of avionics alone would be, well, damn.

Only 50 bombs??? Taking the light load option huh???
But in the spirit of this thread I submit the following song for your listening pleasure. This song speaks of how the L33T pilots would go about playing.

Gentlemen, think about this for a minute.
Why is it that WWII makes such good game play. When WWI, Korea, Vietnam, and modern combat doesn't?
Its all about balance.
WWI the Axis planes ruled the skys for 2/3rds of the war. Then the allied planes caught & exceeded them, and it was one sided the other way. Granted it flipped back & forth a few times in the middle. But trying to find any one period where planes were equal in capability is virtually impossible. It didn't happen that way.
WWII you have a constant flow of new planes from all sides. Armament is better, and its more about the pilot than the plane. In short, you are close enough to balance to make for good game play.
Now, where do you see balance in modern Planes?
Not to mention that game play is not the same when you don't even have visual on your enemy when you've locked on, fired, and killed him.
Korea, possibly, esp if it concentrated on early war. Late war WWII prop planes and a few early war jets, like the Navy F9f Panther carrier jet that did close air support. If they did do Korea you'd have to end it at the point where air to air missiles start becoming effective. Concentrate on the early war.
WWII had such a wide diversity of planes, with vastly different capability's.
This translates into balance, and fun. For almost each plane one side had, there was a a plane, or a tactic that countered it.

If there was an AH that had modern jets, it would be called Aces High IV
-
Please get out, no more modern war sims. Got enough of em. AH, is unique to WW2. LEts stick to that and that only please. Or ill be upping migs and su33/27
-
Plenty, PLENTY?!? I only know of LOMAC and another one that isn't too bright. You got any others you wanna mention?
-
Falcon 4.0, lemme look what I got on my comp, there are too many.
-
Ghosth, you could do the entirety of Korea, because missiles were still abyssmal flops well into the early stages of Vietnam.

With their record during the 1st Gulf War and their tendency to lock on friendly aircraft, no problem.

Ok.. i can agree with you on this part.. :D

I like Flanker
The SARH and rear aspect IR missiles fights would be fun....
If no netlag fact and THIS is the key factor in internet gaming.
I guess, faster than WWII era planes and everything is nothing but massive online multiwhiner mess.
(edit)
Anybody knows from where that above F16 picture is from? What is that canyon down there? The Grand Canyon?
It just give an air race track idea and I would like to know the scale.
Thanks

Tell that to the F-16 that had to fire at a Patriot Battery to knock it out because it had locked on her and her wingman and was about to fire. This incident showed that the Patriot's radar had a tendency to identify friendly aircraft as hostile, despite IFF signals.

no:mad:they knocked down all the scuds & won the war
jerk:mad:  :furious :furious :furious :furious :noid

Really, the patriot missiles are rather unstable, the best way to keep them stable is to keep them shutoff and use a scanner to detect particular heat signatures which come from missiles. Cross-check the event with a time-line of what is supposed to happen that day and determine if the missile is hostile or friendly. If it's hostile, switch on the patriot missile battery, manually lock on target (Making sure not to allow the missile to lock onto friendlies) and missiles away.

Modern day AH would be great with jets, just dont allow usage of missiles and only onboard cannons and ord like bombs etc. Kinda like Aces High is now basically except with modern jets and bombers !! and the like.
Think it would be a lot of fun!

It would be so kool to have AH with Apache helicopters and submarines.......
On the other hand, would I not be playing a game that caters to helicopters or one that caters to submarines? I play Aces High BECAUSE it is caters to WWII aircraft but I do enjoy the GV aspect also. It is, however, the WWII aircraft that drew me here. If my interests were in jets, with or without missles, why would I be here?

That was pretty good! I got a kick out of it.
There is one called, if I remember right, "It feels like the first time" that is pretty good also.

I explored this idea with HiTech, back when I was acting as a liason between HTC and the US Air Force Academy. Basically, what Dale said was, "Gimme a million bucks and I'll do it." So, there you have it. Anyone want to start a collection?
By the way, for a time HTC provide free accounts to the USAFA cadets in their War Gaming club, allowing them to play for free (Dale's a good guy). We even explored using AH as a training device for the cadets, but could never get the "Brass" beyond the "Well, that's an interesting concept" phase. We pitched it using a combination of a Power Point presentation, a AH music video, and a live demonstration. We did an 8v8 airbase strike mission, with two computers set up at USAFA and 6 of my squadies on line. We flew P-38's. We arranged for a squad based in Germany to play the Bf-109s that would attempt to intercept us.
During the demo, I pointed out to the Colonel (Dean of the history department) that those were Germans intercepting us. He said, "Yes, I know the 109 was German."
I said, "Yes Sir, but what I meant was those are being flown right now by Germans, in Germany, right this moment."
He looked puzzeled for a moment, then got a big grin on his face. "S**t hot, son, that's pretty cool!"

Yeah i c ur point, kind of. We could make it simialr to Ace Combat but it would be a MMO. We could make it in the early jet years. With missles that lock on but not from 20+ miles away. U just hold down a button to get it locked on, then FIRE. :O We could older jets. Not todays jets. Same with bombers.

I recommend Jane's Fighters, Saber Jet, F-16 Falcon4, or even any of the arcade games if you want to do that...

When was this? I was class of 2002, and I couldn't drum up ANY interest for AH in the Wargaming club. All they wanted to do was play Starcraft and Quake. The USAFA firewall blocked me from even connecting to HT's server.

Do a search of the BBS. I recall Saber even posting some pictures from their excercise.
