Title: 999000
Post by: daddog on March 15, 2007, 01:53:21 PM
I saw the post about your son/s flying in Aces High. I would be happy to wing with them or let them ride along any time. My own son (sondog) started flying in Aces High about 2 years ago. He was 9 at the time. Many in the AVA and certainly my own squadies were very receptive to him. He also attended the con last year and had a great time thanks to everyone there. I am more than happy to return the favor others have extended to my son. Shoot me a PM or e-mail if you like. :)

Filth..I love the 4.5!!!!!!!!!!! yea I had to chase him off..."YOUR BUSS IS COMING"!  Well if you see me in a fighter ...you can guess its 4.5! My only problem is he needs serious coaching on the HO thing.

Daddog Thanks I appreciate the gracious offer I will tell him to look for you. I would try to help him but the only thing I can teach him in a fighter is how to get killed ....REAL QUICK......and I kinda hope  the game grows on both my sons.
Fine sir!

Wouldn't 499500 be more appropriate?

lol and everyone thought I was young when I started 10 1/2 years ago at the age on 11! They keep getting younger and younger. :)

Good thing to get the kids into, gives some interest in WW2, along with a lot of other things. Just make sure they don't skip school or play sick to stay home and fly like I used to at that age :lol

999,

My son (15) plays too, but someplace or other he got some serious gamer genes -- musta been latent on mom's side -- and when he first started he took to it like a duck takes to water.

His first night, his gunnery was better than mine; within his first week he landed 14 kills in a mossy without rearms.

I have gotten over hating him.   :lol

Fortunately for my self confidence, he spends most all his game time in first person shooters.  Anyway, because he's so natural at gunning and flying, he isnt all that interested in ACM teaching, other than a tactical question now and then. Since I lack the natural talent, I've had to work at things step by step, breaking things down into individual tasks and skills, and learning them one at a time. That's really good for explaining stuff, because you can isolate one part of flying and work on it without being overwhelmed.

A good part of my job is explaining technical stuff to people from outside my field, and I've worked with kids a lot. If he's interested in a session or tow I'd be MORE than happy to show him some really basic ideas that go a long, long way to better flying.

My son and I flew a lot of AH as well as AW back in the day along with playing all kinds of games together between two computers connected via a LAN.  Probably goes back to his fascination with Mechwarrior way back when.

Even during those years were son's believe Dads get stupid, we could always find time for some game stuff.  His buddies were a bit jelous that I'd take the time to do that with him.

Having lost him a year and a half ago, I sure am thankful we shared that stuff.  Take the time if you have it with your kids as they can be gone in an instant.

Not trying to be somber, just thankful I did have that time.

Drew and I out playing Gentile and Godfrey in 4th FG marked 51s back in the day.  The film says 10/10/03
