Title: paper 262 wings
Post by: 68slayr on March 18, 2007, 06:42:13 PM
how do i rip the wings off a 262 pulling 3 Gs going 400?

edit: is an il2 wingtip strong enough to take 2 30mm shots?

I have had that on a few occasions.  It seems pulling constant G (even not high G numbers, just constant) can rip wings quite easily.

Yes, IL2 wingtips are quite strong.... your best bet is to aim for the horrizontal stabilizers.

Even a quick burst of 20mm seems to be enough to take them off a Sturmovik

why go for the stabilizers when u can go for the rear gunner first, that may take some pressure off you, then u go for the pilot from up above. if ur in a 262, do BnZ.

did 262 wings really come off that easily?

titanic...i can't aim for the gunner going 550 while he is pulling a flat turn.  the gunner is worthless.  Only newb would use the thing... the il2 stands a chance against the late war monsters in a fight.  I reviewed the film and there are 3 good 30mm cannon rounds hitting the wingtip within a foot or 2.  I don't go for pilots in fighters.

Slayr, there was a bug until recently where the engine soaked up gobs of damage without registering on the IL2. There might be other damage bugs. I'd suggest mailing it in to HTC and asking if it's a bug or just "luck of the draw".

P.S. I totally agree that 262 wings shouldn't rip off like they do, but that's just me.

one time I took a F6F up and I took 10 20mm shells right in the engine...never got hurt

I was in a hellcat recently and got both wings clipped off by a tempest and still landed it :D http://www.speedyshare.com/652454359.html

Errr uh Titanic, that tail gunner in the Il-2 isn't much of a threat anyway.

I've had my Sturmovik's take several hits from Osti's and lived to tell the tail, I've also had it fall apart on numerous occasions against M16's so I'm not sure what to tell you.

I thought the "rise of the Il2" was due to a "bug".   I was correct.

Sorry about that Slayer.  I'm still perfecting the special wing breaking device, and somehow it got triggered when it shouldn't.  If you find yourself flying along doing nothing and your wings just drop off (happens to me all the time) you will know...

...just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you...
