I missed it the first time.

While I completely agree with the presenter in the video I must point out that the hunting rifle he compared with the two AK's actually was an AK. While it did help him illustrate his point it also worked against his argument since the (so called) hunting rifle was actually a military rifle modified for hunting. It would have been better to use a purposely built semi-auto civilian rifle.

However the ignorant are not likely to notice that ... so I guess the makers of this video is cheating with the facts just like the media does.

I don't really see it that way. He did point out that the actions are identical. A Saiga contains an AK action, but it's not an AK. The receivers are a little bit (but not much) different.

His argument, which he later proved with the mini-14 modification he did, is that the action is what makes the weapon. The hunting rifle had an AK action, so following the presenter’s argument is was no different from the semi-auto AK. It may be nitpicking, but his attack on the media lost some credibility with me at that point. Would have been better in my opinion to take the time and effort to explain the workings of a semi-auto weapon designed for hunting and compared it to the AK. Instead he took the easy way and compared two basically identical weapons.

It's nitpicking, but nitpicking is the burden of the educated. ;)

And a heavy burden it is. ;)

Since automatic weapons have long been banned, and bad guys as well as good guys use semiautomatics, gun control fanatics watching this film might be inspired to renew their efforts to ban magazines over x capacity.

They would be even more happier trying to ban semiautomatics since that would take away the majority of guns for everyone -- if only the bad guys would follow the rules, which they never do.

Bad guys as well as good guys realize that in most situations selective fire from semiautomatic weapons is more effective than spraying with automatic weapons.  If bad guys thought automatics were best for them, they'd find ways to get and use them.

While helpful to general understanding, this film emphasizing how assault rifles and sporting rifles often share the same actions potentially could backfire by giving gun control zealots more ammo.
