Title: Thank-you Hitech
Post by: republic on March 21, 2007, 11:06:06 PM
So many times the boards are filled with gripes and wants...so without further ado...

Thank-you Mr. Hitech for making an incredibly fun game that I can actually play over my 26.4 dialup connection.  I give you a hearty and if my humble teacher's salary were larger...I'd buy you a bottle o' bribe.

Seems so many games cater to those blessed with broadband...yet so many of us still live with dial-up.  7 years ago SBC promised DSL in my area...  I estimate that true broadband will only come to me once the cellular companies roll out a true wireless broadband (None of that Cingular edge crap).

Sincerely,

Dialup Hostage

Ol' Ma' Bell is stuck in the cup-&-string concept over here in Eastern Oregon as well. We were told they would have DSL here shortly. As expected, they have not followed through. I live at a highway junction four miles North of one town (population 150), and 8 miles south of another (population 2500). It would be nice if some year, we could get up to speed.

Thanks HTC for tolerating us dialers, lol.:aok

P.S. This is what little info I could find about DSL availability here:

You can guess where I'm at.:huh

The netcoad stuff is one aspect of this game that is truly impressive.

republic, what part of Oklahoma are you in?

If you live within reasonable distance from many larger cities, you should be able to utilize Sprints high speed CDMA technology. I used to work in Tulsa and lived in Claremore. I found that it worked on all the major interstates and in/around Claremore. Was almost faster than my cable connection at home.

Sprint Oklahoma Coverage Map (http://coverage.sprintpcs.com/IMPACT.jsp?mapcity=Oklahoma%20City&mapstate=OK&returnUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww1.sprintpcs.com%2Fexplore%2FservicePlansOptionsV2%2FFairFlexiblePlans.jsp%3FFOLDER%253C%253Efolder_id%3D1436723%26CURRENT_USER%253C%253EATR_SCID%3DECOMM%26CURRENT_USER%253C%253EATR_PCode%3DNone%26CURRENT_USER%253C%253EATR_cartState%3Dgroup)

I sure miss Oklahoma :cry

:aok

Any connection over any type of cellphone technology will be worse for _gaming_ than dial-up..... or so ive heard. Has something to do with lag i think.

Forget DSL.

Verizon has been laying fiber like crazy.
Cable will go the way of the Do-Do when
they roll out Fibre Hi-Speed.

I can't wait to kick Comcast to the curb!

Newer technologies are making cable and internet over phonelines ALOT faster. They are rollingout the new systems here shortly. Fiber is still better, but cable/phone will be competitive for a very very long time.

50Mbits over ADSL is here now. As far as i know fiber is about 100Mbits

I am in NE oklahoma and ha lousy phone service..Went with wild-blue satllite, and it is not too bad..there are times when I cant play..Lotsof people online. But my connection is usually not too bad..Latency is a small issue, but it basically keeps me out of fighters..although when the boy gets online he does pretty well in fighters..
