Am i missing something or when you have bombs loaded on fighter/bombers to drop them you have to be in a steep dive to let them go? and what key do you use or what key can you use to setup your joystick to drop them i see info on the larger bombers open bomb bay doors and so on but i have missed the fighters/bomber setup somewere thanks

You have to select the bombs first. Hit the backspace key to cycle through secondary weapons in the display on your dash until your bombs are selected.
The B key is usually the secondary weapon key and hitting it will release the bombs. You can also map that function to a button on your joystick.
You can drop bombs with any attitude but diving at or near your top dive speed increases accuracy. Even then you'll have to aim your pipper slightly beyond your intended target.
Hope that helps.

Just a couple of comments to add to what BaldEagl said.
In a fighter you usually need to press the B once for each bomb you carry.
Some fighters handle pretty badly with just one wing loaded out with a big bomb!
You do not need to be diving to drop the bombs but as a general rule a steep dive allows you to make a better judgement of where to aim. Generally the aiming point is just below the nose out of sight! The best way to learn about this is in the TA where you can turn on the computed bomb sight which appears as a green cross hair to show where your bomb is going to hit.

you can salvo the amount of bombs droped from a fighter just like the buffs
type .salvo X
X = the number you wish to drop at the same time .
for practice you can go into the Training arena were the green + is enabled for learning how to drop from different angles of approach to target .
You have to get the feel for "Floating" the plane as you drop .
turning off combat trim befor you dive in helps also (Shift X )
I myself practiced until I knew the exact spot to line up at (somewere between the top of the dash and the lower ring on most gunsite's )
