I've been trying out the 8-player games, and it's getting very frustrating.
I lose my connection and get booted out every few minutes, and the problem is getting worse.
When I see the list of games, only a handful have ping numbers next to them. And most of the time, when I try to join, everything freezes on the loading screen and I have to crash AHII in order to get out.
Is the full game any better than that?

You get two weeks free in the Main Arena's and that is worth trying anyway to see how you like it.
Everyone will get connection problems from time to time although I will say that playing from the UK I find it rare to have any problems on the main servers.

make sure you allow AH on your firewall and antivirus. Also follow the links Blagard offered and check out Skuzzy's tips on interenet connections.
That you cannot see the ping times on some of the rooms is normal and doesnt mean you cannot join them.
