I have recently downloaded the latest version of Directx8.1 I also downloaded the AHVoice. when i returned into the game, i was loged in but my screen was all (not even sure how to explane it) broken like multicracked window. and the display is all jumbled up like looking through a Prizem. I can however make out the radio text (with difficulty) enough to communicate with people in the game.
I know this is a new one, but if anyone has an idea, pleassssse help.

Frustration deeply setting in
-
Beach,
if you expect people to help here please provide more information. Post your system specs and the effects on aceshigh you noticed
-
Beach,
I had a similar problem when installing DX 8.1 AH would start, I would make it to the tower then get the Blue Screen of Death! What I found out was that there was a file in the driver for my sound card that was mussed up. I un-installed the card then re-installed it using the latest drivers and the problem cleared up. Actually now I get stereo sound while in AH.

Try going into your Program Files/HTC/Aces High/settings folder and removing the video7.cfg file. Reboot the system and try starting AH. It should prompt you for video settings. Try checking frame rate limits at 60 (or 45) fps and checking the "disable palletized textures" box.
That might do it.

thanks for the help everyone. <S>

Beach,
Sorry to hear about the troubles you are having. I wish I would have seen this thread earlier. I have a GeForce2 and DX8.1 and I am running fine.
Are you using the brand new vid drivers that were posted by Nvidia the week of 12/17? I have heard that many people have had problems with them.
If you are still working on the problem, post your driver info and let us know.
-
Yes I am still working on the problem, Im hoping to find a solution. I do have the latest drivers for my geforce 23.11 I believe it is. I cant seem to find an older driver to replace it. Thanks

2 things to check:
First - Do as Bloom suggested and delete the video.cfg files.
Second - Ensure that your AH video settings are the same as those of your desktop. (ie. if you run AH at 1280x1024 and 32bit color, set your desktop to 1280x1024 and 32 bit.)

If you are having problems, do not use the "latest" detonator drivers. Those are Nvidia Experimental Drivers, and as such they are often prone to problems.
Check my signature below for a link to Dangerous Dog for all the different Detonators. For that card you have in Win2k, I recommend you use the 7.58 version drivers as a starting point. Those are generally the most compatible and stable drivers for TnT-GeForce 2 level cards under Windows 2k. If that doesn't do it, try the 12.41's or the 14.10's. Make sure you are using WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality Lab) approved drivers or "Official" supported ones if possible. The "latest" drivers are often buggy and cause problems, especially on any Nvidia hardware that isn't the very latest.
Give that a try, and let me know what happens. I'm sure we can get you running.

I have follow this topic as I have a very similar problem after upgrading my system to Dx8.1 and Geforce2.
I had a TNT2 NVDIA 32 and Dx8.0 and was getting a very aceptable and playable 25 to 35 average FPS.
After the upgrades my FR dropped dramaticaly to 8 to 10 in tower, even offline and online.
Unplayable.
I went back to mi old trusty TNT2 but no way, again the FR at 6 / 8 / 10., No more.
Gona try the Lephturn advises, but link to Detonator Destroyed dont work.

Problem solved in the first instance !!!.
You should be named RightTurn, Leph.
Deleted de video7.cfg file and dwl and instaled the version 7.58 of drivers.
First Try with the TNT2 the FR up to 25 - 30.
I'll try now the 14,10 WHQL on the TNT and then on the Geforce2.
Furious, your link work but unable to find Detonator Destroyed...installing all on all what a messing salad.
Thx All.
