I hate to gripe and usually don't, but this is getting to be nothing short of ****ing ridiculous.
1.0K+ ping and I lose a wing on a previously untouched aircraft.
This was travelling at high speed away from the target.
Things like this are appearing more and more frequently.
High speed slashing pass (not even a good stick in the gunner position) and my ****ing aircraft explodes from a single nip from this ridiculous ack.
I'd be safer de-acking a field in a 109E FFS.
This bull**** lazer ack must be sorted out. 1 ping instant wing removal is not logical from 1k, no matter how good the gunner is.

So... you'd just made a pass, and then blammo. Pretty much guarantee that he whacked you as you went by and it was just latency that caused the damage as you reached what you felt to be a "safe" distance.
Besides, depending upon latency, 1.0k on your FE could have been 600 yds on his...

I thought all of your luftwaffe cannon monster planes could easily kill any buff formation from any angle??
Sounds like u had a bad/unlucky day m8.
Try and kill Dantoo in any buff!! I expect parts to start falling off after i've past him as standard. Some guys are just insane shots and some have good tactics. Other day he was wing off spinning into the ground still firing his rear gun and got me lol.
Spend a month upping buffs and gunning and you will appreciate the other side of the fence. Most of the time its a 50/50 depending on number of attackers and number of buffs.
Oh and i doubt it was one ping.

And besides which ... I just noticed that your location on the BBS is set to "Australia". If so, I rest my case completely on latency.

In general though, I must say that the pilots that are complaining about the bomber guns have NO idea how good we have it in AH, where we are facing a human gunner and not the RoboCop/Terminator team of "other sims". The current bomber gunnery model, which allows a single human to simulate an entire bomber gunnery crew (albeit and admittedly not perfectly) is infinitely better than dealing with Otto and the constant inevitable fiddling with it, as is the case elsewhere - where one day can Otto can shoot the lice between the feathers off of a canary as it clears the horizon at 2 am on a moonless night, and the next day couldn't hit a barn while standing inside it.
You guys are complaining about getting shot down by a person. Someone who had to work to get a gun solution on you. Deny him the solution and you won't die.

who was the 24s???

Negative on the making a pass and being hit while doing it.
I looped around from infront to behind (co-alt) and came in behind.
I dived down to gather some speed and slash up and BOOM, wing off
Never got closer than 1.0K
It just things like this that are starting to get on my nerve.
It seems that no matter how much alt you have, how fast you're going when you attack..... it always results in a fatal or catastrophic hit.
I feel like i'm being hit by a god-damn airborne CV group all of a sudden.
-
ANGLE,MORE OF IT IF YOU LOOPED AROUND FRONT TO REAR EASY SHOT NOE FROM 3 TO 6 UP AND OVER A LITTLE HARDER,
-
The only way to attack bombers from co-alt is a high speed pass forward of the 3-9 line, and head-on is by far the best (In my very humble opinion) - At least with the 50's, since you are looking for a pilot kill.
Anything else is suicide to an alert gunner, and you are simply rolling the dice that he won't be, or will totally suck.
ALL IMHO, of course.

I don't even bother with bombers unless I have a good amount of alt and time to play with and have a heavily cannoned crate.

No offense but you are missing out on a lot of kills, probably.
I fly a plane w/ no cannon and get some bomber kills. I'm not making any claims at having any talent at this game, it's just my guess that you could hammer bombers.

You never got closer than 1000 yards on your FE. But what matters is how close you were on his FE, and given you are in Australia that could easily have been within 500 yards.

A P-38 kills buff quite nicely with just the 4 .50 cal.

Sounds like lag to me.

Mmmmm
I have a solid connection though... the only thing **** at my end is my lump of **** computer.
It's still fast enough to run things well in that situation though (just slows down in big furballs, but entirely to my detriment, i still send signals out at the same speed, my comp just 'opens the packages coming in slower' (it ****s my kill-shots up all the time, very frustrating haha) so I doubt it was my computer in this case.
Are you suggesting that because I'm in Australia I suffer from lazer-ack buffs becuase their FE suggests that I'm closer than I really am?
I've heard yanks on 200 ***** about Japanese having an advantage because of their location. I assumed that I would be in the same boat, given my geographical position.
And just to lay rest to the suspition of my buff attack methods.... rest assured this gunner would have to be a ****ing deity to land the shot as I saw it on my FE.

When I lived in Italy I had a crazy ping rate for the game, like 250+ most the time. I am now stateside and am aroudn 40-70 most the time. I had tons of collisions while overseas and it sucked because I was seeing things that much slower on my end. A guy 800 out was actually 500-600 out and already firing at me. I have lived both areas of lag and being states side is nice compaired to being shot and not even knowing it. Like Hubs said, most likely lag bro... :aok
-
lol 1k out that seems to be a easy hit for a lot of guys. I've been pegged at 3k out and get hit with pilot wounds a few times now.
I don't get how they do it, seems when ever I'm in a bomber I can have a guy in my sites and see the rounds hitting his plane and it never goes down.

Pilot shots and flaming engines are your friend!

Its pretty easy to understand how this happens. Lag causes you to hear hits long after you were actually hit. Ive hit guys from 50ft and watched them fly to 800 before they explode.
-
Ever since my return to AH and my new love for the A8 i have found chasing buffs one of the most fun parts of the game, and i do it almost exclusivly now. Furballing a bunch of spixteens and lalas aint fun for me no more. There are some incredible gunners out there but unless im in a hurry and dont spend time setting up the attack i win every time. Ive encountered the odd "one ping death" even in the armored A8 but they are rare.
-
You realize that the lead required to hit a plane from the tailgun, that is 1.0 away, with a 90 degree deflection is like an inch on my moniter. Its not like the guy is holding his pipper on you and hosing you. Its not an easy shot, and takes practice learning the lead, much like the ostis.

Its not that I have had issues killing them, its just I have had issues being hit in the face by a .50 cal while going at speeds and angles at which I thought it would have been very difficult to be hit.
The heavy armament part comes from the only shot I've found to be reliably safe and easy to dispatch them with (at least in my experience), flying about 1.5-2.5 above them, in front of them, and diving through their expected path of travel, with my lift vector oriented towards them,,,,,opening fire at 800 and firing right till they pass through my stream.
If I can't get this shot or if there aren't others attacking at the same time I just assume its 999 or Float or once of the other buff death star gunners and leave it be (unless its a Ju.88 heh)
BTW hows that Peter Rabbit thing working down there =P

I was in a 262 the other night, blasting by a formation a little slow by 262 standards (350mph or so)...2 buffs left in formation. Blew the starboard wing off the lead plane, and cruise past ready to head home (I was out of ammo by now). As I pass, the gunner blows off my tail with one ping. All this as his plane has just violently jerked around due to the missing wing (from what I saw he had not switched planes yet).
In other news, I'm sticking with the 110 in my anti-buff patrols now.

FM2 is a buff KILLA!!!!
Lag issue aside. Just gotta set the attack up right and be patient. I do lose some kills to the "I'm gonna zoom right up his 6" crowd but more often then not I get the kill after they flame the buff and lose a wing.:rofl
May have to check my stats against buffs to see if my word should carry any weight but I believe I am way ahead against bombers.
edit: Had to check. Last tour against B24s and B17s I had 76 kills to 12 deaths. So I say, if latency is not causing you to fly too close to their guns unknowingly, tactics are the problem.
