I'm sort of surprised that there hasn't been a reaction to Chuck Hagel (R-Nebraska) and his comments regarding President Bush and impeachment here on the BBS. Now he clearly isn't calling for it at this time, but it's not off the table either...
Any thoughts folks? I personally don't see it ever happening, i mean unless we get a flood of documents and audio tapes that prove wrong doing, but I'm curious what everyone here thinks.
Much ado about nothing? Or a change on the wind?

He hates Bush/the W.O.T., thinks Gitmo ought be shut down..he is against tax cuts....He could be a middle-of-the-road Democrat if we wasn't pro-life:furious

He's a republican only at election time. Just like my Snowe and Collins are. Gotta love a moderate...anything to appear "in tune" with the people by chasing the opinion polls.

hagel is somebody elses problem......Ive got my own two poop headed senators that I must contend with

Hagel is an irrelevant blowhard. Hence the lack of reaction.

perhaps he should read the constitution if he wants to be president some day.
Some lawmakers who complain that President Bush is flouting Congress and the public with his Iraq policies are considering impeachment an option, a Republican senator said Sunday.
Sen. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska, a member of the Foreign Relations Committee and a frequent critic of the war, stopped short of calling for Bush's impeachment. But he made clear that some lawmakers viewed that as an option should Bush choose to push ahead despite public sentiment against the war.
"Any president who says 'I don't care' or 'I will not respond to what the people of this country are saying about Iraq or anything else' or 'I don't care what the Congress does, I am going to proceed' — if a president really believes that, then there are … ways to deal with that," Hagel said on ABC's "This Week." ...
In the April edition of Esquire magazine, Hagel described Bush as someone who didn't believe he was accountable to anyone.
"You can impeach him, and before this is over, you might see calls for his impeachment," Hagel told the magazine.
You cannot impeach a president because you disagree with his policies.
The Congres absolutly disgusts me as of late. They have the power to end the Iraq war in an instant but choose not to as they don't want the accountability that goes along with it. The President has little he can do without the power of the congress
US CONSTITUTION Art 2 Sec 4
The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.
If the president committed "high crimes and misdemeanors" than he should be impeached for it. If the congress KNOWS this to be true then they should act or they are complicite in his actions.
What a sweetheartbag!

Hagel is a media darling, a "Republican" (actually a RINO) who disagrees with Bush. So is Arlen Specter. I give zero credence to 99% of what either of them says. They have no spine, and merely attempt to govern by "popular opinion", desperately seeking to keep their high paying jobs, screwing the tax paying public 8 ways from Sunday. Only the media makes them newsworthy, anyone with common sense ignores them. Those without common sense elect them.

Remember the "gang" of 14 who wanted to "powershare" with the Dems when we had a majority?
Gee, think they'll "powershare" now that they are the majority
Didnt think so
