IMO that would be a great idea, I suggested it aswell a few years ago.
Just think of a Horsa being dragged by a C-47, or even a Lancaster? (Since we lack the Wellingtons)
The question now is: Horsas flown by AI or player?
-
have someone join you in the glider and when near the target area..tell them Godspeed and good luck and then cut the rope:D :t
-
Hehe, the glider pilots would cut the rope themselves though :aok (brave buggers!)

If we get gliders, they'll likely be the ones made by the casket company that made so many of them (Now there's a real fun decision, "should I fly this thing a CASKET company built?) . Be fun to tow 2-3 of them with a C-47, if you get close enough, the enemy will be torn on which way to go. You have ten in the C-47, and ten or more in EACH glider. You'd want player pilots in the gliders, because you'd want them all going in different directions to force the enemy to decide. Glider pilots should get more points/perks if their drunks make a capture. If you can glide into the town (or close enough) for a crash landing, it should not matter if the wings are damaged, if the fuselage is mostly intact, the drunks should get out. At least some of them.

id like this idead but if you got normal guys flying gliders thay might just as well fly a c47.
now if it was made taht the field wasnt flashing and the gliders came in at dawn like they really did it would be intresting

You know, if you shoot the C47..the gliders will more than likely slow
down considerably :D

I WOULD agree with you, but because you keep posting wishes in here, not the wishlist, I will say a big fat NO just to spite you.
edit: Give me the Gigant. (http://www.airwar.ru/image/i/glider/me321-i.jpg)
(Notice the clamshell doors. It looks small here, but its actual pretty freaking huge!)

Just sayin... But for my contribution, yeah, I think it would be great to have gliders, but then youd have people like me begging for them to model thermals and ridge lift off of mountains, and all that other crap...
-
Bah can we please close this discussion, the topic is about Horsa's, and a little side-effect is it being cool to see in AH :)
Oh, and I doubt Horsa's would rely on thermals in mountainous areas, they would just plumit down :D
(I don't think they were even deployed in/near mountains?)

Um, ridge lift and thermals are two seperate things. And while they wouldnt rely on them, it could increase their glide range by several miles at least. Besides, it would give people like me something to do while waiting for you people to finish off the last damned building.

Sorry, bomber pilot myself, I only go for hangars :D

Same here. B-17 at 18,000 feet is the only way to go. But I enjoy carpet bombing, so I hit towns and strat targets. If you carpet bomb a hangar, youre just pathetic, ya know? lol. Salvos are fun, you should try it some time!
