Title: CS gas injection question?

Just curious about this and I know their are a lot of military historians and vets here so........................... ...In a military perspective , has high volume CS gas injection ever been used in combat situations? If so, what was used to injection it with in terms of mixture to form a "mist"?

CS gas is against the 1993 Chemical Weapons Convention.

Yes, in Vietnam it was used.

On one particular occassion, it was dropped in metal barrels on a landing zone.  Moments later, troop transport helicopters dropped off soldiers wearing gas masks.  The soldiers commented that the gas masks fogged up and they had the choice to either fight nearly blind with the masks on, or take the masks off and brave the gas.

I'm trying to remember what book I read this in.  Nothing is coming to mind.

What I am asking about is an injection system such as from tanks , armored vehicles, etc.

i think they injected gas at the battle of waco.

Not sure, I'll have to look into it a bit deeper.
I just have a photo in a book called 'Vietnam, the Australian experience' that shows Aussie engineers using a small portable pump ( looks like a small petrol engined generator or compressor) hooked up to three or four 55 gallon drums and  pumping a dense white gas into a hole in the ground. (there is a small cloud of gas around the hole that I presume is a tunnel entrance)
The caption says they are using CS gas and pumping it into VC tunnels before sending in tunnel rats.

Damn sure I wouldnt want to be the bloke they sent in that hole after filling it with CS, i know that much.

Pretty sure Charlie got wise real quick and started adding water filled S bends and such to defeat gas attacks.

Apparently they allso used coloured smoke in an attempt to locate tunnel exits, airholes, chimneys etc, pumping it in the same way they did with CS.

I'll search around a bit and see what I can find on the net.....would just scan piccie in book, but I dont have a scanner at home.

Yes, that is why I am asking if it has been used in this format in any combat situations in the format and mixture that was used there.
