Why was the thread I started about finding a picture closed? No "see this and that rule" or anything, just closed.
No reason what so ever to close it.

having read the thread (that rhymes and you know it does), i would think that it is because you say you are going to copy copyrighted material. Thus breaking the law.

Couple of reasons. Copyright infringement. And some folks cannot wait to do something just to get a rise out of others. The thread presented those folks an oppertunity.
I could ban those people, but then I would have to suffer the self-righteous indignation sure to follow and I am not in the mood for it.

Well Skuzzy I can buy the part about people waiting for an opportunity to do something.
But I don't buy the stuff about copyright infringement.
Would that be because pictures were posted there or because of what I said?
If it was due to what I said I can say right away it is not elegal to stage a photo inspiried by a painting.
It is elegal to paint a painting of it and sell it, or take a photo of it an sell it.

Wilbus, simply displaying the pictures in that thread without written permission is a violation of copyright. If you are so up to date on copyright law, then you already know that.
EDIT: I do not care what you had planned for the artwork. That is your business.

Actually I am pretty up to date on copyright laws but I also know my rights as a photographer. I can buy the fact that the thread was closed due to the pictures being displayed there and the fact that you don't wanna give people the chance to start a flame or similair.

That is why I use "EDIT" to let others know I changed my post. I only edit when it makes sense as a follow post.
i.e. My edit above still followed your edited reponse. It follows a logical thought process, rather than a time line.
One of the downsides in attempting to have a 'discussion' using an asynchronous medium such as this.

While I normally do not attend to posts asking "why" questions about moderation, I did here because I felt it needed to be addressed.
You did nothing wrong Wilbus and there was nothing inherently wrong with the thread, until some responses came in.
I really do not get mad about this stuff. I just do my job. However, I do giggle a bit at the foolishness of some. :)

If it is me that Skuzzy's talking about, it's pretty ironic as I'm pretty much the total opposite of the things he's describing.
For example, I recently plugged some of my little brother's art in another forum's "show off your art-thread", and got this bunch of pretty funny hatemail, complete with psychoanalysis of me and him and my whole family, because some of his studies were nude.. :lol
Shockingly graphic material posted for malicious intent!!

Wilbus, this is the website of an American company, and they need to protect themselves. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that it is unacceptable to post images (even art) of a lady with genitalia in her face.

Wilbus did not pose that image. It was posted with the sole purpose of exacting an inciteful reaction. It had no bearing on the content requested by Wilbus. It was a cheap, juvenile stunt which warrants no further attention.

Believe you can close this thread too Skuzzy, with my premission ;) (tries to sounds as if though I have any power).
The thread wasn't closed due to mature content or any such things, it was closed due to the fact that copyrighted material was directly linked to the page instead of linking to the source. (as much as I appriciate Saw posting the picture for me).

I didn’t mean to make it sound like Wilbus posted the image. Wilbus just seemed not to understand why his thread was closed because of it.
