Title: Aceshigh locking up.

The game locks up after 10 to 30 seconds after launching it.I uninstall the game,video card,sound card.Re downloaded the game from the web site.Updated all drivers for the vid and sound card.still the same thing happens.Had dirextx 8.0,upgraded to 8.1,still same symptoms.Tried all possible resolution in the game,still same.Help me please squad night to night.

system:thunderbird 1g
   ram:256
 video:geforce2 (version 21.83) tried most of them)
 sound:creative lab 5.1 (newest drivers)
    HD:20g (only have 1/4 of used space)

Would be nice to know what happens before and after the lockup.

Also, this only happens in Aces High?

Does it lock up the whole PC or does it just lock up Aces High? Or is it a CTD?

You have not reinstalled windows over itself have you? (DONT!).

As always, defrag and use msconfig to get rid of the crap windows loads on startup.

1)im able to start aceshigh from start->program->aceshigh.It locks up either before or after i go online or offline.In either case when it locks up the whole game freezes including mouse and keyboard,have to re-boot the system.


2)thats correct,no other game acts this way,able to play a dozen or so games accept Aceshigh.


3)whole PC locks up.


4)no i haven't re-installed windows.


5)defrag has been done,msconfig also,plus i use end it all on my desktop.  :confused:

  Sounds like a format otw.
 If that dont fix it then you must have hw failure

HW failure not likely bfalcon. Everything but AH runs fine.

Try upgrading (or reinstalling) DX8.1. Then uninstall sound and video drivers, reboot, reinstall video and sound and reboot and try it then.

Use WHQL drivers for your video card just in case.

I had the same problem a while back.  Tried many a re-install of various items.  I was at the end of my rope ready to toss this f'er out the window.  AH withdrawal is a bitc*   ;) ....actually it's a virgin, a bitc* is easy   :D

Well, it turned out that a bad stick of ram was causing my troubles.  When I swapped it out for a new stick, voila'  NO MORE TROUBLE  :D  

I remember seeing a post somewhere on this board for memtest something or other to test RAM.  Give it a look.  I hope it's something simple that's giving you these problems.  I know how it feels to be "grounded"  :(

Having the same problems. Get to clipboard and cursor moves but wont click.Can get into game with key board <enter> after in game keyboard works ok but no mouse or plane choice.Have Dirx8 and NIvdia updates.tried everything but a new computor over the last month. Game works on wifes system which is same as mine. So think its a software conflick or register.Ran Norton regist clean and checked software and hardware conflicks still exactly the same.Tried new Ram384 but no help. reinsstalled drivers for mouse. Nothing works yet  :confused:

well sprint there's not mutch i didn't do,software,hardware,drivers.removing and re-installing all, several times with different drivers.Put the last thing i did to it that fixed it was(maybe just coincedent,does sound kind'a weird to me do,but).I had one game configured to use openGL.Once i configured it to use D3D,it cured my Aceshigh problem.Long shot,but cured my problem.  :eek:
