Title: Power to SLI configuration
Post by: IronDog on March 31, 2007, 03:50:19 PM
Need to know if both cards need seperate hookups...I have a six pin feeding my evga 7950 right now.I found a two four pins to one six pin in one of my MB boxes..have several! However that seems backward to me.Should be one four pin into two six pins,if both cards need seperate power, and all this makes absolutely no sense to me.I was also wondering about the same bios on both cards.Guess I better call evga for that one.I know this is all overkill, but I gotta be tinkering with something all the time.If someone can set me straight,I'd be obliged.

Ive never used SLI but i'm guessing that both cards need power , and prolly on seperate chains of the PSU. I have an sli MB and the board itself also has a 4 pin Male adapter above both pcie slots that looks like it would need a standard psu 4 pin f plugged into it .

The 2 /4pin into 1/6pin pcie adapter sounds right , hope your PSU has enought AMPS on the 12 rail to run SLI stable. GL

Rgr on the 12v rail.PS is 700 watts and should handle it.Gosh I can recall when 300 watts was plenny! My power supply is modular,so I think I'm in for a treat! Thanks for the help and nice aeroplane on ur signature;)
