I am currently using the X00 pro ATI card. I plan on getting a new mobo in near future and use the cross-fire mobo. But, for now I was wondering if it was worth to buy the X1600 card and using my current mobo. I did add my memory on my system to a full 2G.
Does anybody have the X1600 pro, retail at Tiger for 149.00?
Thanks

If your going to get the x1600 you may as well spend a couple bucks more and get the x1900 or 1950.

Thank you for the reply!
I was just wondering would it be worth it to spend a extra 100 and then next year have the directX10 cards come out!

Prolly wont make a difference with DX 10 since right now its Vista only. You wont be able to take advantage of DX 10 unless you already have or get Vista or if MS releases it for XP which with the way things are looking they wont due to licensing reasons.
P.S. I saw an X1650 with 512mb ram in open box for $109.00 on Newegg.com last week.

Thank you for the help! I was hoping to get the upgraded card to give this computer a little bit more on the video. I would like to use it on a future Mobo for the cross fire application.

Which X00 card do you have? It might not be a huge upgrade from say a X800XT or X850XT. Just curious .

Hi and thanks for the reply!
I have the x800 pro
I wanted to get a bit more out of video than what I have now and be able to transfer the card on the new mobo. I have a AMD64 3400 pci-e.
The x1600 is cross fire ready which can be used on the new mobo.

Actually the X800 pro is faster than some versions of the x1600 pro , i'm not trying to be a downer but it sucks to get a new card and be ticked . Ruk

Thanks for the input and you are correct! Seems to spend the few extra bucks and go for the 1900 series!

Very true, Some of versions of the X800 have 16 pixel pipelines while the X1600's seem to only have 12 and the Processor speeds of some of the X800's are faster than some X1600's.
Sounds like reverse engineering to me ;)

On newegg they are selling the shappire x1950 pro pcie for 199.00
From that I heard, this card doesnt need a cross fire mobo to work with cross fire! I just have to get another crossfire ready card also?

In order to take advantage of the Crossfire technology both the motherboard and the card have to be crossfire ready to my understanding.
This is where I would begin.
