Title: Flight Simulator X
Post by: cav58d on April 03, 2007, 07:38:10 PM
I went out and purchased Microsoft Flight Simulator X Deluxe edition last week, and found out two things that suck!  First, my computer is a CD rom, and isn't capable of reading the DVD rom needed with MSFS X Deluxe Edition....Okay fine, I thought.  So I go back to best buy to return it, and i'm told I can't because the game was opened and software laws........WTF!

Anyways, I bought the stupid thing for $69.99...All tags are still on the game...Game hasn't ever been played, and has all the original product crap it came with....

Instead of taking a total burn of $70 bucks, im trying to save some face here, and I'd be willing to sell it to anyone who wants it for $45, and I will include shipping.......

Please PM me if you want it.

Chances are that if you dont hve a CD rom, your system wont run it well anyways. The sim is utterly stunning though just the same. No MMP though.

Make that two...count 'em...two OEM's of FSX up for sale. OK so my laptop's 3 years old but it runs AH2 just fine and my usual frame rate hovers in the mid 70's.  Find me the fastest gaming rig/vid card on the planet and you'll find FSX to   still bring your system to a crawl. How slow you ask? Boot it up and then order a pizza. You'll be burning the roof of your mouth with Mozzarella before you're ready to fly.

FSX runs great on my system. The P51D and H created by Shockwave Productions are the most realistic flight models and work great (the D does anyway) in FSX. :aok Fully functional cockpit too.

I ditched it right after i booted it up. FS9 runs alot better on my system. If you are planning to buy FSX, make sure you have a high end system

I've got FSX delux, the reason I like it is sometimes I like to just shoot ILS's in an old 3 holer (727) or something else I'll never get to actually fly. Here's a challenge, get online with a buddy and try flying some formation stuff in 747's or tandem areobatics in 737's. Aces high racing league could add a whole new demention to their fun.

You know when this first came out I thought, you know I should really check this out. So being the nasty perverted pirate that I am I got a copy without paying the $$$ to Uncle Bill.

You know I've had it sitting on my hard drive for months now and never even installed it. After hearing all the horror story's, I just never did it.

Now, if you want to go spend money on something buy Stalker. If you like First Person Shooters at ALL, go buy it. Best looking best playing FPS ever IMO.

This game will literally haunt your dreams, scare the crap out of you, kick your butt, and leave you begging for more.

In short, if you enjoy something other than AH now & then, give stalker a try.
Its one of the few games I've tried in the last year thats worth every penny.

Yay for thread derailment!

Cav you might want to try to pawn it off on Ebay. That game can be a hard sell. I like FSX. I also have a high end computer. Most of the guys cryin about it being a frame killer are trying to play it on an old 1.2 celeron, 256megs of RAM and a ATI 9200SE video card with everything turned all the way up.. The game has a good deal of eye candy that is going to take up system resource. If you do not have the system..turn some of the settings down...way down.

He doesn't even have a disc drive to load it with. Way to imply everyone who doesn't like the game is an idiot, while not even reading the thread yourself. :aok

If you want to fly civil check out X-Plane.  There is a version of it certified by the FAA for flight simulation training.

Available in PC, Mac, and Linux versions.  I have the 8 DVD world scenery, and it's pretty awesome.

I wasn't referring to Cav. I was referring to the masses of people on boards and web pages who bash FSX for being hard on thier systems. When they are trying to play a 2006 game on a 2002 system. Way to misunderstand my post then make a post to "set me straight". :aok I was replying to Ghosth. He said he didn't install FSX because of what others were saying about the game being hard on systems. Where in my post did I imply that everyone who doesn't like the game is an idiot?? Damn some of you guys need help. You read between the lines..to the point you see things that arnt even there.

FSX is the best update to the series yet! I never noticed with other versions that the highways have cars and trucks running on them! Weather systems are the most amzing thing Ive ever seen but there is much more than that to FSX. I like air combat myself but Microsoft deserves credit for keeping this flight sim thing going. You really should check out shockwave productions though. They have a B29 that actually carries a nuke too. I like all of their work and the way the airplanes are researched for flight sim. Every cockpit is as detailed as they can make them and as close to reality as research makes possible.

Seems as though hubsonfire is having a little difficulty following the thread himself. :rofl If you notice in the second sentence of his post, "First, my computer is a CD rom, and isn't capable of reading the DVD rom needed with MSFS X Deluxe Edition....Okay fine, I thought." (figured i'd help you a little)  It's just not a DVD drive, he has a drive.  Try to keep up next time, okay? :aok

I dont have FSX yet .. on my list of 'things to do' .. way down on the list.

I really enjoy flyin point-to-point in Shockwave's Mustang tho. Also get a kick outta the B-58 Hustler, the SR-71, the awesome F-14 .. even the Connie :) Add-ons *rock*

Try gettin the B-36 off the ground on a hot day from LAX :)

The research they did in flight dynamics that plugs into FS9 just makes it fun .. even shootin touch an goes in a 15 knot xwind in the Stang is fun.

I also fly from tower view to brush up on R/C flyin skills .. and flyin some of the canned missions can be *quite* a challenge .. the Tri-Motor runs are purty cool :)

I like the fact that you can fly to an airport and see where the fuel pits are, which freq's the airport is on, download Jeppeson weather updates to fly in, do X-country or round the world (did a round the world in the Beech Baron .. tried it in the C-47 but ran outta gas over Russia -poor scheduling on my part ;)

-Frank aka GE (also on my list of things to do is get the rest of Shockwave's planes :)

Most people seem to do that in AH, then they get startled when someone tries to fight them.

I still dfon't have a clue what's fixed, or what you're talking about. Yes, I read troons post. Every single itty bitty thing in this thread is clear to me except "fixed". :t
