Title: 109-G2 15.(Kroat)/JG52 by Croduh
Post by: croduh on April 05, 2007, 08:18:54 AM
Kroat jg52 109g2.
As always i will be glad for any comment, suggestion, critic etc.
I'm in a dilemma, there is a swastika on the tail of the plane, and i don't know what to do about it, leave the tail blank or add Croat airforce markings like on some other planes?

Looks Good,

The only thing I can comment on is that there appears to be no line where the rudder joins the vertical stabilizer.

Sorry I cant be more constructive

Heya duh,

I'd suggest just leaving it blank as it has been the general consensus in the forum for quite a while.  I remember back a long time ago the conversation of placing a "rotated" cross to replace it but was pretty much shot down by the group.  I agree with that btw :)  I think Krusty said it perfectly on a critique of my 262 number weathering, not the exact quote..."it distracts...it just takes over and away from the skin."

Leave it off bro.  My 2 cents.

Looks nice croduh,

Thanks for the time an effort in making a new skin.

"When" they get added the game will be slightly more enriched for all of us.

It looks nice. Redhawk's pretty much said what I think about swastikas. On some planes with squiggle camo you can fill it in (like JG54's 109E-4 skin "Yellow 11"), but for the most part leave it off.

I agree that it looks good, but I think it's missing some definition around the control surfaces (as mentioned). Could you perhaps add some detail around all moving flight surfaces? I think that would help it out. It's subtle, but noticable.

2 other things:

1) If the intake is on the yellow cowling, there's a 99.999% chance it will be yellow also. An easy fix

2) I'm not sure what to make of the weathering on the wing roots. If you've got references that show this much wear and tear, then go for it. If you're making a guess, I might suggest you tone it back a tad. I don't think they'd let so much bare metal show through before repainting it. It would start to rust or something.

OK, i'll leave it blank.Still have to add kill markings on the tail.
1)Can't find the part with intake on skin.I tried skinning it but just can't find it.

2)There is weathering, i have a few photos, but i'll make it smaller.

About the lines: i made my rivets and lines after the default HTC skin, it was weird to me too that it doesn't have lines on the rudder, or shadings on ailerons and elevators.I'll try to make them too.

I think it's better than the previous pictures, Croduh!

One thing, I notice you've still got the default color on the gondolas under the wings. They're not the same shade as the rest of the wing. You can find the gondola on the bitmap and change it as well. It's not like the DTs which are un-skinnable.

Found something for reference.
So, if no one has nothing to add i might submit it?

Some info on the pilot:
Cvitan Galic, Croatian pilot who fought for NDH.He has 38 confirmed victories, mostly against soviets.
There were to types of pilots in Croatia in ww2.Ones fought for NDH(Axis) and others for Yugoslavia(Allied):Many NDH pilots have deserted to partisans.

You added some definition by the ailerons/flaps, but I don't see any on the rudder. I would really like to see it there as well. It's not going to break the skin, but IMO it would make it better. Can't entirely tell, but double check that the same type of definition is also on the elevators.

I don't want to come off as a hypocrite or anything. I just noticed that I did the same thing on one of my 109Fs, and it totally slipped past everybody that looked at it.

I need you folks to point out mistakes like this!!!!

Anyways, just wanted to point out that I found out I did the same thing, in case anybody calls me out on it. :)
