Lately I've had problems with friendly ack. AI ack is hitting me if Im behind enemy plane. Happened at least yesterday and today, both times I lost oil and some smaller parts but it didnt kill me.
What could cause this?
Net status looks ok and ping is normal (about 150-170)
-
I find it kind of ironic that AI ack is there for defence purposes, yet i have been killed many times by both friendly ack and puffy ack whilst defending against attackers.
-
Been playing 5 years and it's never happened to me. And I am an ack hugger when the chips are down. So it may be a lag issue that affects some and not everyone.
-
i was involved in a 3 way dogfighting the other day, and there was puffy ack everywhere. a enemy N1k rammed me and a weird thing happened.... a puffy ack exploded right at the moment of the collision. i asked what happened and they said it must been puffy ack. HTC should make the acks smarter:(
-
It's happened to me twice (once with 3 kills), so I don't follow a con into the CV ack anymore..
-
Don't think this is caused by net lag. Happened to me once offline, taking off from carrier!

Never had it myself.
But I have had some pretty impressive lag effects. One time I messed up a pass on some buffs, and flew right past the gunports of a good gunner. I expected to get plastered badly.... I winced, waited for it, waited for it, relaxed, and had time to think "Man, I thought I was flat out dead" -- before the bulelts all hit, with me now 1.5 k from the vulnerable point.
I'd seriously bet that effect explains a LOT of "puffy ack" death, though I'd never be so bold to deny that friendly puffs could ever possibly do that. Just remember that puffs are statistical effect, not aimed ones - so it seems unlikely that HTC would "accidentally" forget and apply the calculation to friendly aircraft.

Good theory, but in both cases where I died from puffy ack from the CV, the puffy ack was the only possible cause.
It was just me and the one who I desired to "send back to the tower" anywhere close.

Film on.
If you send HTC a film, they can break open the code to see exactly what happened from exactly what bullet. If there is a puffy bug, they'll be able to find it and fix it IF you have a film. Without that, and without an easy way to reproduce the problem, there just isnt much they can do...from what I've seen on the boards in the past.

LOL, I have lost count how many times FRIENDLY auto puffy has killed me, usually ina chog while chasing a dive attacker (pony, 38, etc). I always have those guys that say "that cant happen" got news, it does. I dont really care all that much, but hard to defend cv if u die by own ack, while the attacker lives and kills the cv. Seems to only happen in perk rides, wierd:noid

It isn't a bug, it is supposed to damage friendly's it just does not aim at them.

Yeah...it is most noticeable to me while taking off from field or CV, at least that is when you can see the tracers track towards you (no doubt following a vulcher) as you roll...ping-ping-ping-BOOOOM!
I've not had so much bad luck from puffies, only when they target me directly from 4 miles away.
