Title: WW2OL versus AH update
Post by: Fokker on July 07, 2001, 11:16:00 AM
Been flying in WW2OL for 2 days now. Fun, yes /but no competition to AH yet. And I cant realy see when it is going to happen. At least not as a flight sim.

WW2OL as a flight sim is close to a 'joke' compared to AH.

You have to look realy hard to find anything, anything at all in WW2OL as a flight sim, that can compare or is better than AH. The only thing I can think off is the way they have implemented icons for planes. The way they fade in color with distance was nifty. That could be an idea for AH, else .... nothing.

The gameplay with combined arms is fun though, so I hope AH will include more of that with time, just for the variation in gameplay reason and to attract more players for the HTC player base. Have to think of the money too. More players are more money, and money are needed for great development.

There has been lots of noise about WW2OL bugs and hitches. It was a surprise to fly for 2 days with not a single disconecct or hitch at all. Good framerate too. I got actually better framerate there than in AH.

As a flight sim I can not realy see WW2OL as a competitor to AH. The only competitor I see at the moment is WBIII. But they still have quite some way to go.

HTC's secret is their development program is driven by beer not money   :D

I've found WW2OL to be awkward....I do not know all the controls nearly as well as I do Aces High, and the fact it takes me forever to load the game and figure out what is going on.....well, you get the idea.  A lot can be learned from WW2OL and maybe brought into Aces.  But I'm *comfortable* in Aces High, and enjoy my evening Lancaster missions.
