Pick a night except Wednesday nights, and I'll escort you and/or your father.
<> bro and tell yer pop thanks for serving!
-
Toad: count me in. We'll also drum up pilots from the 412th who'd be interested as well.
Tango, XO
412th FS Braunco Mustangs

AH 80th will be there, just like the real 80th was there escorting 345th B25s :)

I'll even join the 80th in 38's. That's the way it should be, just 25's 38's.

Now we just need a scenario based on the battles over Rabaul in the fall of 43.
38Gs, A20s, 25s, 24s, P40s, and all those Navy birds against the Japanese Army and Navy birds.

THAT would be incredible to participate in Corky.

Both of them?

Well if ya want to be technical about it, in terms of fighters, yes both of them. Japanese Navy had Zekes stationed there and the Japanese Army had Tonies.
Throw in the Kates and Vals and the occasional twin engined Japanese bomber and that's about it.
But I'm thinking that's not what you were really asking :)

I think you can probably plan on Battle of Bismarck Sea in the AvA some day.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to remember P47s flying in the Pacific also. I think it was the 350 something or other that used the P47.
Could you do some research on this? I'm looking in a book written by Bode at the moment to see if my memory is correct.
Thanks

Just liking the suggested match up.
Allies:
38Gs, A20s, 25s, 24s, P40s, (and by Navy planes you mean?) F6F's, FM2's, and F4U's (ground based if not carrier planes), and now maybe Jugs.
vs.
IJN/IJA:
A6M2, A6M5b, Ki-61, Kate, and Val, and maybe a few Ki-67's.
-
tedrbr yup, that looks like a fine matchup to me also.

The 348th was around at that time with their Jugs, but didn't have the range from where they were based.
A quick look at the time frame I'm talking about, October-November 43 shows that it was the 3rd Attack with A20s and B25s, 345th BG with B25s and 22nd BG with B26s and 25s, along with the 90th BG with B24s doing the bombing. They were escorted by the 38s of the 49th FG, 475th FG and 80th FS Headhunters.
It also appears that RAAF Kittyhawks were involved a bit for the P40 guys
For the Navy birds you'd be talking F4F-4s, RNZAF Corsairs, Hellcats, TBFs and SBDs
This was after a quick look btw so I won't claim absolute accuracy :)
Gonna do some serious looking though.

I'm not in the 80th, but I'll be there, flying 80th colors.

That would be very cool, count me in!
:aok

Dan thanks.
Would love to get The Circus up in D11 or D25s to scort the 25 :aok
