Time to start collecting reference material for the b-25 build. I know the community has a lot of aviation buffs, so I'd figure I'd ask for some help. If you have any good pictures / diagrams of the b-25 ( any variant) post them here or links to the pics. As to the specifics, high res detail pics of internal structures, ect as well as close ups of various components are useful. Especially cockpit and other station areas.
Thanks for the help!

I frequent the Sim-Outhouse, which to my knowledge has never done a Mitchell, but IIRC the folks over at SimViation did for MS CFS. They have forums, and if they are anything like Sim-Outhouse, they put together as much of the original specs and information as they could before creating the model.
You might check with them to see what they have.
http://www.simviation.com/cfs1aircraft4.htm (http://www.simviation.com/cfs1aircraft4.htm)
A quick check showed MAAM-SIM also had a B-25J project a few years ago for FS community. http://www.maam.org/ (http://www.maam.org/) You may be able to track down some info through them as well.
Also http://www.nazcastudios.com/gaming.htm (http://www.nazcastudios.com/gaming.htm) did 3 repaints for FS B-25D (2 RAF, 1 USAAF) model.

Waffle is just looking for pics and diagrams and not discussions in this thread. :)

lots of stuff there

I have a buddy of mine that has an ORIGINAL B-25J operator and maintence manual. Printed in 1944. Tons of info in that book. I can ask and see if he might be willing to have it copied at Kinkos or something or maybe loan it to you guys for a period of time. I have some copies of info out of that book.
Is anyone aware that the B-25 was capable of carrying a torpedo? I have that information right out of the manual.

The funny looking letters are informative also, by the way.

This machine is in Addison; you should talk Doug into a company sponsored field trip. I'm sure the museum would let you crawl all over to get whatever detail pics you need. Supposidly it is as close to original as you can get without getting shot at.

I'll make a couple of phone calls and send a few e-mails and see what I can do. The guy who has the book is underway right now on the Coast Guard Cutter Forward, but I know how to get in touch with him underway. If he agrees I can go over and pick it up from his wife and either take it to have it copied or if he agrees send it out FedEx to you guys there.
I know he's going to be very happy to see it in the game. Those of you at the last con might remember the guy. MartyB. Tall goofy looking guy that was set up between Doobs and me on the left side of the room. I know I saw Dale talking to him for awhile. I think he even showed Dale that manual because he brought it out there with him.

Suggest Squadron Signal's book "B25 Walkaround". Should give ya what you need.
If you can't find it, I'll send you my copy :)
-
I guess I should be more specific as to my request....
I'm looking for stuff a little more uncommon - like engineering drawings or personal pics / period pics.
I've got pretty much the standard fare of books (squadron/signal stuff, some of the polish stuff, as well as a few operating manuals and the parts manual for the b-25c/d versions.
I guess I'm looking for dimensioned hi-quality drawings / original blueprints of the general assembly / parts.
stuff like this: p51 engineering drawings (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&itemcount=4&sspagename=MERC_VI_RSCC_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT&refwidgetloc=active_view_item&usedrule1=StoreCatToStoreCat&viewitem=&refitem=270107833480&item=270108552671&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget#ebayphotohosting)
But - keep posting links/ ect... there might be something I haven't found yet.
:)
-
Dont have time right now.
Maybe someoen else does. but you might want to try here
If anyone has it. they should

Yeah - only problem with those is that it usually takes 4-6 weeks for them to process a request :)

erection manuals? Does Hustler count?
:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl
Did you mean assembly/Installation manuals? If only it was a Boeing built plane I could probably hook you up.
-
I'm gonna go look for them, but in case I get distracted by something shiny and forget to come back, have you tried http://www.rareaviation.com for the period publications you are looking for?
I know they have a great selection of P-51 publications along those lines, never looked for B-25s though.

Not cheap, but they have quite a bit. Maybe the Powers That Be could work out some sort of endorsement/info exchange deal?

Right here, there is information on the B-25 plus a load of other American aircraft used in WWII http://www.daveswarbirds.com/usplanes/american.htm

Scan from a book. Not sure if it's helpful or not. I included the one right below it, as well because it's a near duplicate and is a good comparison.

Krusty, I have that book too, but no scanner, thanks for saving me the frustration :lol :aok

its russian so i don't know if its accurate but its the best I have to go on.
I see some distortion in the drawings so I don't know if id trust em to line up the 3d model. it may not be a perfect scan. but most of the panel lines and rivet lines look pretty authentic for skinning so it will serve for the purposes I need at least.
tiff files they are very large scale my image hosting site cant handle em I guess but here the link to download them...

Lot of non-standard instruments and avionics in this picture. I see a couple of after-market VOR/ILS heads, and some King radios and audio panel. Intercom setup on co-pilots side above yoke, fuel gauge above co-pilots yoke, artificial horizon and directional gyro above pilots yoke. All of this looks like after-market stuff. I could be wrong about the fuel gauge--they may have had it overhauled, but the bright white numbering looks a little off. Last, they've got a Hobbs meter installed on top right of the panel that I don't think should be there.
-
Waffle,
I don't know if this is of any help, but I have about 25 extremely hi-res photos of B-25J 'Panchito' taken last year, including closeups of the engine nacelles, interior of bomb bay, front glass, details of tailplanes, and interior navigator's area among others.
Let me know if you want them, they are large, about 1.7Mb each.

can we put thoughts in the b25:D
p51srule:aok
-
You can put thoughts in a B25, I suppose, as long as there's a pilot to think them.
If it's sitting in the hangar between mission, I think it would be thoughtless, though. Those kind of things you can't control.
