Whoops sorry. I thought something looked odd. Thankyou.

It sure feels good to be back to the Playoffs! GO PENS! :D
And any of you who really aren't that into hockey might want to check out the Penguins/Senators series... They're two of the "flashy" young teams in the league and the regular season contests were always entertaining.
Sidney Crosby's (NHL leading scorer @ age 19) playoff debut, Wednesday night, 7pm EST on VERSUS.
Oh yeah :aok
-
Isles baby! ehh, who am I kidding. It will go to game 5, 4-1 sabres sweep....
How I miss the old days of Pierre Turgeon, Vladamir Mulakof, Steve Thomas, Glenn Healey etc....whoot

Islanders baby!!! :O after yesterdays game

Sens, Canucks, and Flames to win, just because Slash didn't pick one Canadian team. :furious
-
You mean they aren't on strike again?????
The MLB strike in 1994 is what killed that sport for me and if I was a hockey fan the last strike would have put the old dog out of its misery for me as well.

The strike is old news. The league came out after with more die hard fans then before. It also renewed the game with the new rules. The new rules made for more hockey being played in each game, rather then scoring 3 goals and then burning time off the clock.

Go Pens!!

Stars are lacking a Goalie. GO NUCKS!!!!!!

i believe that the canucks hate anything resembling post season success and will crumble in 5. granted it is a biased opinion, but the pressures of a big hockey market like Vancouver pale in comparison to Florida, and while Luongo has been superb as of late Naslund will not deliver a worthy performance. if god is kind the rest of the west will eat itself and we will get Buffalo for the cup.
-
Sabers going win it this year. They have the best all around team in the league. Having the scorers that they have to outscore anyone and a good enough goalie in Miller to win those close games as well.

Kind of like Brett Hull scoring in Triple OT?
FYI, the 1994 Finals are STILL the best 7 game series up until today.
The Stars need a goalie, you WILL NOT beat Buffalo in 7.
-
Go Pens!!!
Can never count out Brodeur either (however boring their games might be)
And boy.....The Sabres looked goooooood
:D

the new tactic this year is that all the playoff PR is going to everyone but turco, our GM said that they were all doing their part to " get Marty focused on the playoffs." it sucks the wind out of my sails to think that powder puff question from local news stations is enough to get you swept out of the first round for the past 3 years.
i agree with you about '94 however i disagree with horach about Ryan miller being "good enough" the East is soft this year defensively. the time for sexy goals and selling tickets is over, the west will most definetly win who ever that may be.

wings will win they will beat tampa bay

There is always Mike Smith though.:D

Nice try Nashville.
Skill didn't work so you resort to low blows and cheapshots to keep your hopes alive in game 5.
Lets go Sharks! Who's next.

Calgary should be ashamed after their play and actions today.
Disgusting.

Sabers still going. Looks like Sabres will own the Senators as well.

Hopefully the Sabres win the cup, and drury will sign with the Islanders...=)
I'd also love to see Smyth and Blake re-sign with the Isles, and I would be the happiest person on earth if we buy out Yashin's contract, and trade Koslov and Satan. There is a lot of potential with the Islanders for next season.

Yup it was pathetic.
Sabres, Sharks and Ducks are rolling. I'm pulling for Drury as he was with the Avs.
But I could care less who made the playoffs or who wins, I just love hockey so I watch em all. I think it's the coolest game on earth. :D

Good luck Sabres, goin to be a hell of a conference finals.
Pullin for ottawa though they have been snakebit for the last 10 years.
Emery was on fire in the Dev's series, only weekness was the amout of fat rebounds he gave up, Dev's couldn't capitalize on it
-
it will all depend on Emery's play, will he choke or not...
I vote choke, thats what Sens usually do anyways...

I'm speechless.
GG Wings.

The Sens have won the first game, lost the second game and then went 3 straight to win the first 2 series. Will the trend continue?

As a Los Angeles Kings fan, I have absolutely no sympathy for you in the least.
Gotta say... I watched the Detroit/Anaheim game this morning... my gawd... way WAY more tempo than the Eastern Conference game 1.

Well cripes, someone should say it! What a devastating loss for Buffalo. I guess well see what happens tonight.

Good game last night. Kinda had a feeling the ducks would win. They dominated in OT. The wings never really got it out of their own zone much.

So do Wings and Ducks. No matter which team Sens meet in finals, they'll get crunched. GO WEST!

Buffalo looked horrible tonight.

Looks like the Sens will be resting up while waiting for the Wings or the Quackers to finish their 7 games.

Ottawa Senators win game 5 (in Buffalo) to defeat Buffalo 4-1 in the series and advance to play for Lord Stanley's Cup.
A week to get the bp and heart rate back to normal.
BUFFALO, N.Y. (CP) - Will the third time be a charm for Canada?
Captain Daniel Alfredsson scored 9:32 into overtime Saturday to give the Ottawa Senators a 3-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres that wrapped up the Eastern Conference final in five games, and booked them a trip to the Stanley Cup final for the first time since re-entering the league in 1992.
Alfredsson, arguably the best player in this year's NHL playoffs, beat Ryan Miller with a low shot just inside the post on the glove side, stunning a sellout crowd of 18,690 at HSBC Arena.
"Right now it's kind of surreal," Alfredsson said. "I don't think it's really sunk in yet."
The Senators hope to achieve what Calgary (2004) and Edmonton (2006) just failed to do in the last two championship series, bring the Cup home to Canada.
The old Senators did just that 80 years ago in 1927. No Canadian team has won Lord Stanley's prize since the Montreal Canadiens in 1993.
Ottawa, unlike the Flames and Oilers, won't be going into the Cup final as a big underdog. They polished off the President's Trophy winners in five games, serving notice to either Detroit or Anaheim what awaits them in the final series.
"It's just exciting to play for a team that has battled through what we have this year and to get a chance to help that team achieve their goal is just great," goalie Ray Emery said.
Jason Spezza and Dany Heatley also scored for the Senators, who ran their playoff record to an impressive 12-3 - winning all three of their playoff series in five games.
Maxim Afinogenov and Jochen Hecht scored for the Sabres, who will have a President's Trophy banner hanging down from the rafters at HSBC Arena next season but not the one they've dreamed of since coming into the league in 1970 - a Cup banner.
And big questions now follow the Sabres into the off-season with star centres Chris Drury and Daniel Briere both slated for unrestricted free agency July 1. Did they play their last game in a Sabres uniform Saturday?
Buffalo fans get knocked for their fatalist attitude but they were rocking Saturday, trying to push their team to a sixth game.
An electric atmosphere didn't translate into electric hockey early on, both teams somewhat tentative in a scoreless first period, the Sabres not registering their first shot on goal until eight minutes in.
Shots were 7-7 after 20 minutes but the best chance wasn't a shot, Ottawa defenceman Anton Volchenkov saving a sure goal when he dove to stop Derek Roy's attempt at an empty net seven minutes into the game.
Hecht got the 18,690 fans out of their seats 4:30 into the second period, jumping on a loose puck after a broken play in front of Emery, knocking in a backhand past Emery to give Buffalo the much-needed first goal it craved.
Ottawa got a great chance to get back into it moments later with a 5-on-3 power play for 48 seconds, but a big shot block from Drury and a crossbar hit by Spezza kept it 1-0 as Sabres fans roared their approval.
But as has been the case for most of the series, the Sabres couldn't contain Ottawa's star-studded big line.
First Spezza grabbed a rebound and slid a pass over to Heatley who deposited into the empty side at 15:41. Then a beauty, Alfredsson with a nifty feed to Spezza on a 2-on-1 with only 39 seconds to go in the middle period, as Spezza went down to one knee for the old fist pump the air got sucked out of HSBC Arena.
The Sabres, however, didn't back down in the third period and were handed a glorious chance to tie it with a 5-on-3 man advantage for 1:30, and they didn't waste it.
Afinogenov slipped in a rebound at the side of the net at 10:58, a goal that blew the roof off HSBC Arena.
Moments earlier Drury took a Tim Connolly point shot in the face and headed straight to the dressing room. He did not return until two minutes into the overtime session.
The Sabres got another power play with just over seven minutes to play in the third period but it was Ottawa that came closest to scoring, Antoine Vermette hitting the outside of the post on a partial break.
The fans didn't back down with their boisterous support, singing along to Bon Jovi's "Living On A Prayer" with less than five minutes to go in the game, their beloved team's season very much living on a prayer.
Another Sabres power play with 2:50 to go in the third failed to yield a goal, producing the second overtime game of the series.
Buffalo went 1-for-7 on the power play and ended the series 2-for-29, a major reason for the Sabres' downfall.

Which is odd... Parros wasn't really a fan fav on Los Angeles.
I'll have to admit Parros always had me wondering... There he is... A Princeton graduate that majored in economics, and he's a goon. Just now what you would expect.
Oh... and the Ducks can petition to add Parros' name to the Cup.

Not necessarily.
25 automatically are on the cup, several more can petition. He has a good chance of being engraved.
