Title: P-38 rudder trim for single-engined flight
Post by: Old Sport on April 11, 2007, 06:40:49 AM
Not sure if this is a bug.

During single-engined flight I trim the rudder so the ball is centered, and I can also see the rudder trim indicator over to the side. But immediately after I finish trimming, the rudder trim indicator slides back to center, and the ball start sliding back out of trim.

Best regards

Rudder trim returns to center when you stop holding the key in every plane.

I can't duplicate this.  It sounds like you're combat trim is re-engaging.  Are you trying to use auto-pilot?

Whoops. Well I thought I was out of auto level, but apparantly I wasn't. I just retried it and if auto level is disengaged then trim holds, if it is engaged then trim fades out. I usually never engage combat trim on the 38.

All the best.
