Title: dsl problems
Post by: chaunc on January 30, 2001, 08:39:00 PM
I was able to run 1024x768 32 bit etc with dial up..but went to DSL and now screen is jerky even though the video memory shows plenty free.  Looked at system monitor and noticed processor kernal was pegged at 100%.  Disconnected and ran AH and noticed processor still pegged. (733mhz pent 3 w 256 mb ram and 16 meg ATI all in wonder 128).  Anybody have comparable systems with same probelm.  Checked system for conflicts..don't see any.

Well, most games such as AH will use your CPU as much as it can to get the maximum framerate.  I think you will find any game will suck up 100% of your CPU.

More to the point, tell us a bit more about your DSL setup, since it seems to be causing the problem.  How does the DSL device connect to your computer?  USB perhaps?

Negative on the USB..it uses a network card.

I have looked in the ctrl alt del to see what all is running and don't find anything that doesn't have to be running except "stimon" i have no idea what that is.
