It's like flying in the earliest versions of Air Warrior in some ways.
I like many things about the new terrain but it feels very cartoon-like compared to the last terrain.
The good:
Beaches
Beach obsticals
New trees with shade effects
Better water
Ack bunkers
Hedge rows
The bad:
Loss of old trees/forests
Deforestation
Colors too vibrant
Loss of terrain shading
More difficult to "hide" on the deck
Non-terrain likes:
Sherman
New ammo loadouts for the T-34
I didn't get to play too long but those were my first impressions.
I probably need to give it some time to assimilate.

I like alot of the stuff but its too green. Maybe the light settings but while flying along ridges you cant tell where the edges are and the canyon begins.

I can see where adding a stone or clay or dirt patch texture into all that green might help.
"Deforestation"
Yeah, this one bothers me a bit too. There were times when I found myself in trouble in a Yak, I'd take it RIGHT to the deck and use the trees to cover my six.
There were also the "paths" through the forest you could fly down, below the tree tops. A fun way to pop up on GV's unexpected.
Very clear territory now. Seems like the terrain is a lot smoother now too? Fewer small hills?
