Title: Mic won't work

I have a headset with mic. I can not get it to pick up my voice at all. How do I ensure that it is turned on in windows xp? I need detailed instructions please.......

okk go to controll pannel the to sound and audio devices. click the voices tab look in the box for microphone. click voloum below it then click options and then proptires the make sure the green dot is o recording then check that your microphone is the only thing checked click ok to all and thats it. You will not here you mic trough your speackers but you will transmit i the game.
