Title: 348th Fighter Group
Post by: Stoney74 on April 13, 2007, 01:05:52 AM
We're looking for some more squadmates.  Current strength is 8 and we're looking for 8 more.

348th Fighter Group was the first P-47 Fighter Group in the PTO during WWII, and was highly successful in the skies around New Guinea in 1943-44.  They then went into the Phillipines where they continued to be successful.  After transitioning to P-51D's in Jan-April 1945, they began flying mission to mainland Japan from Okinawa.

We fly fighters most of the time--P-47's and P-51's to be specific.  We emphasize team play, wingman tactics, and formation flying.  If you know your way around the game, have a joystick and a headset, look us up in the MA's.  You don't have to be "ace of the base", just an interest in the game, and fighters particularly.  If you're new to the game, we'll spend some time in the TA teaching you basic squadron operations and familiarization flights in the planes.

We participate weekly in FSO, and also are a escort squadron for HARM.

We have a new website up and running, although it is still under construction and a bit unfinished.  It will be updated as time goes on.

Come see us at http://www.348thfightergroup.com

I am very interested.  I am a total newbie, and I have played for 2 days now.  I have gotten 1 kill, but not a landed kill.  In any case, I am interested in your squadron because it sounds very structured.  Please tell me what hours you normally play.

We have squad members across the country, but you can be sure to find us during week nights after 8-9 PM Eastern time.  On the weekends, we're on periodically every day.

The 348th are great escorts!  It's like listening to a WWII movie on vox when they are flying.

Yup, what Trukk says is true.

Stoney, what VOX channel does the 348th frequent when not doing HARMs?  Didn't see that above or on the squadron page... Which is a very nice start, by the way.

Thank Trukk for the starting point on the Webpage.  He helped me put it together.

We use the "squad" Vox selection and not a numbered channel.

Depends Jtoups.  If you like flying the way we fly and want to be an active participant in the squad, absolutely.  If not, no sweat, and we've all made another mate in the game.  Regardless, look me up online and come fly with us a couple missions to see what we're all about.  Then, if you're still interested and its a good fit for us, we'll give you the invite.

I'm going to jump in here and plant both feet firmly in my mouth as I take a stab at what I think the criteria for pilots you are looking for...

A) n00bs and Pros alike that share a willingness to learn regimented flight... Formation take offs, wing paired combat, etc. in a semi military manner.

B) Good tempered people that can help out when and where they are able.

C) People who enjoy having FUN, in AH playing towards TEAM EFFORT in accomplishing the Squadrons mission goals.

Stoney, is that close to what you look for in a pilot?

Yeah, a fairly good synopsis.

Hey Stoney,
What country do you guys fly for in the online arenas?  I was looking at your roster and I think I saw a few of you last night.

I'd be interested in flying with you guys online a few times to see if we're a good match.  I wouldn't mind some pointers on getting the most out of the P-47 either!

See ya soon,

Hey Stoney,
Make sure you say hello when you're back online.

Had a few flights with MWL and Battlfrog last weekend.  I think we did the 'one more sortie' for about 3 hours...got to bed like 1am or something!

I'm enjoying flying with you guys so far.

See ya around,
