Title: GV outside gun fires on its own.
Post by: 5PointOh on April 13, 2007, 08:54:10 AM
It might just be me, but I've notice since the new patch if I'm in the outside machine gun view for Sherman, Panzer, ect ect that when I turn to look around the gun fires one or two bullets.  Anyone else have this? Never had this problem before.

I have noticed the same thing. Only a couple of rounds, it sounds like.

Yes, several people in TT just now have been having the problem of contineous intermittent firing of single .50 cal rounds in the Sherman, regardless of position or action.

Man, i remember some of HT's older games, the tanks use to fire there top guns automaticly while the person drove or manned the gun.

So,perhaps they are just tryin' to make it "feal" more like war, with ai gunner taking a few pot shots from time to time.
Cant say as it would be a bad thing tho.
Im always down for my vehical taking pot shots at something while i do something else.
makes me feal so not alone.

Would be great to run a jeep into a town or base, knowing my gunner will be taking pot shots at targets of opertunity.
Would be much better to launch jeep raids and such then :)

Imagine driving, having someone .join to man turret then let the Ai hammer down with the .50's and .30's while the two other men do there thing.
dang i hope so.

Noticed the same thing.  I hear a tiny burst occasionally 1-2 rounds.

I seem to be getting 'ping' sounds. I thought it was a new 'shrapnel from heaven' effect. I kinda liked it.

This only seems to happen to me when I release my hat switch, and the game automatically switches from forward-right or forward-left back to the forward view. I'll hear the sound, but I'm pretty sure no rounds are being used.

I watched the rounds this weekend, its actually shooting the rounds.   1-2 at a time.  Thank god I have the tracers off.  And I noticed it is only on the M4.  Thanks to all who have replied, at least I'm not going crazy like I thought before.  Well maybe I am.

I believe its a .30 cal round or two that fires with out pushing the fire button.

If your just hearing a single MG sound then thats a serman firing a smoke round.

Totally different sound than the smoke canisters, I watched the round counter, and its definently taking 1-2.  Its not a big deal, but everytime I hear it I look for a jeep.

I'm experiencing the same thing in a panzer since the new patch. One or two rounds at a time.

This is great.
now we need a .burst command for the Ai gunners.

and a .gvtarget command.

Like .gvtarget tiger 800 "command/object/range"
range is important otherwise it could* lock a target at 3k out :P

.burst 5
.burstdelay 0.7

I'm getting 'ping' sounds from random directions - but these aren't my pintle firing - the ammo stays the same.

I hear it in air too.  Seems to be related to the hat switch in the Spit IX.

Strange

This is a problem in the Panzer IV as well.  Every once in a while (about every 20 seconds or so?  It varies a bit), I hear a round or two fire from my machine gun.  This happens regardless of what position I am in (driving, main gun, or MG).

I also hear this couple-round firing happening when I fly over the battlefield close to the ground.  So, I am hearing it coming from tanks when I am not in them, too -- it's not just my own tank in which I hear this.

I hear the same thing with no action on my part and no firing of any of my guns.  In TT, where there are lots of rounds flying around, I have correlated the sound with enemy shells passing over and landing nearby, i.e. I'll get that 2 shot MG burst sound and then a tank round will land nearby with a boom.  I think the sound is supposed to be the scream of shells flying overhead (which would be cool) but that the wave file wasn't updated properly or something or it points to the MG sound instead of a brief bomb falling sound?
