i'd persosnally love to see a P-61 Black Widow. of course w/ a perk price :)
don't growl at me if this was already posted.
or for the spelling errors.
-
Why would it be perked?
It isn't even as good as a Mosquito.
-
dose BUILT IN RADAR mean anything to you?
it would have the lil dots moving CONSTANTLY unlike clipboard rader :)
-
with the addition the 25 and Firefly i get over seeing new wishlists. I'd like the 61 also, but think other countries need to be filled long before it could be added.
-
yeah,
but it would be a good addition.
it's the sort of thing we need.
we have all the day fighters,
but very few night fighters

I think you may overestimate the ranges of airborne WW2 radar for nightfighters. Most sets I know about ( A few American & German) have a max range that does not exceed the dot visibility range we already do have in AH, though I don't have any exact numbers on the Black Widow's SCR-720A.
-
perhpas,
but it'd be cool.
the clip board is abit of a helper to noobs, so take that out, there confused.
i've heard people complain it takes relsim out,
for those people, this is more relistic :)

Maybe because we don't have any use for them right now? And the additional weight and especially antennae drag of most radar set will slow them down considerable.

><
maby for relistic purposes AH should take dot dar out.
put oral rader in.
then we'll see how many people want these kind of planes :)

We don't have night time. We don't have on-board radar in planes.
Those were the situations that the Black Widow excelled in. Without night and without the on-board radar, the Black Widow becomes less than useless in a LW war arena.
We have no need for a night fighter that would get chewed up in daylight fighting.

w/ the black widow we would have on board radar now wouldn't we?

Yes but it would help you nothing.
-
w/e
just thought it would be kool to have somthing like this.
it's really not worth arguing over.
thats why it's in "wishlist"
:)

On-board radar is not found in the game. HTC would have to create the code for it, then to actually make effective use of it, you need to bring night time back, which --- if not easily countered by gamma adjustment on monitors --- effectively grounds most of the other 74 planes so a few night fighter pilots can fly 1 plane.
P-61 also, IIRC, had an early night vision scope (similar to the A-26A prototype's, which competed for night fighter contract) ---- which would also have to be modeled for use in game.
That's an awful lot of code for inclusion of one plane type in the game that effectively forces other pilots, that don't like night fighting, to sit around waiting for dawn, or jump arenas. Even a lot more work to do all that just for use in SEA events or arenas.
Night fighters rate up there with Glider Planes, Unarmed Recon Planes, Seaplanes, and 2-1/2 ton trucks as almost completely useless niche additions to the game. To get anything out of the addition, you need to add a lot of game content that does not even exist now.
-
i get the idea.
i just think it'd be neat.
:)
lets just forget about it.

But that's the unofficial way of the wishlist: One asks for something, than others (usually Krusty or me) will jump in and yell "That sucks" or "We don't need it!" or "That wasn't in WW2". Better get used to it. :D
-
lol yeah, i know all about it.
i had a old account awhile ago.. somehow got deleted *rolls eyes*
even then i wasn't a massive poster.
you won't need "that wasn't in ww2 w/ me :P
i'm not stupid
-
No,there is a way realy.
Without radar at night, make the icons vanish "upto say 1.2k out"
Then make the icons slowly fade in, once at 800k from target.
Now,for the visual because people would use gamma and such.
make the models LOD that of a tiny dot, and make it stay like that till 1.0
Again, you would see a bunch of tiny dots, untill you got closer then you would see the name tag "start" to come into focus, then it would be at 1.0..by then youd ither have a shot,or none.
To people who arent cheating, it would be simple..fly to your target..earch till you see a icon,go to it..and sprey & prey till stuff dies.
. 5k out -o- 1.0k ---0--- at 800k and closer.
"shrugs"
Yeah..in a perfect world this would work.
-
Remember it's very important that we argue why each and every
addition should not be. I don't care if the next plane is the Supermarine
Walrus..I think any addition is a good thing.

And?
Mosquito NF.Mk 30 was 55mph faster (369mph for the Blackwidow vs 424mph for the Mosquito) and had radar on it too, as did the NF.Mk XIII, NF.Mk XIX and many FB.Mk VI's.
Onboard radar was hardly unique to the P-61.
Also, the range of WWII radar was short and it was hard to identify what was being looked at compared to ground based radar.

It always comes down to this bit of reasoning, doesn't it?:huh

yes, but you couldent see th ground based radar, all you had was somone telling you where to look.
but it's not like that in AH ><
oh wells

And the person telling you the info provided some nice, useful stuff we don't get in AH, like, say, heading, speed and, most important, altitude.
