how can a sherman firefly destroy a plane in the air by its gun? In 8 player arena

By shooting it. Lots off people buzz tanks and get shot by the main gun. Its fun with they are starfing you and get about 600 out and you pop them.

its a good way to make people mad too:lol

when i try this i aim for the wing(love to watch them plummet to their doom:D )

That's probably the most fun I've ever had in a T34, Target.  Sit in the indestructible on a captured field and bust planes as they dive in for you.  I probably got 7 kills and tons more proxies that time.
