Gf 6200 or Radeon 9600 xt, both agp.
Now i know they are both outdated, but which one is better?

Pick radeon, way better image quality. Geforce sucks, I know I recently bought the 8800.

Well I really like my PNY Verto Geforce 7600GS 512MB AGP.

I would only pick geforce if I had an lcd digitally connected to the box. Analog quality is horrible in all geforce series.

the 9600XT is quite a bit better , ive found two comparisons below , even with the 9600xt being in a 3.2ghz pentium 4 test rig , it beats the 6200 that was in a AMD64 4000+ test rig . The 4000+ system would be faster than the P4 machine .
There are other games you can look at that match up on both of these reviews , just keep in mind that the 9600 is in a slower system and still wins . Sometimes newer isn't always better .
Its really hard to find a direct comparison for the two cards , so you have to kinda piece together benchmarks from here and there , its not perfect but it should help you decide GL

Not even remotely sure how you can claim this on the 8800.

I don't have (and haven't ever had) problems with nvidia cards.
However, in this case, consider the following: The 6200 is a stripped down, budget card, while the 9600xt is a full-blown, full-power, gaming card. Definitely go with the 9600xt, if those are your only two choices.

I have had good luck with and have been very please with both nVidia and Radeon cards. I usually pick whichever is the best performance/price at the time.

im still gaming on a crucial 9600 pro card . it plays AH2 just fine . just dont expect to run it at the huge 1600 x monitor resolutions .
the 6200 IMO would be a step down .

I dont know if still selling though but the PNY 7600GS AGP 512MB was $150 at compusa which is where I got mine. Its $145 at tigerdirect and $140 at newegg.

Odd all the geforces I use have been fine. Plus ATI doesn't do any true 3D support (but I spose not than many people use it).
