Soooo
This a decent card?
Thinking about going with the trade up program ATI is offering
-
Heard tell it was excellent and the best you could get for AGP right now BUT?????
I don't actually KNOW.
-
I have found an unbelievable price for this model at a store nearby.
Interested, how much is the performance difference between 512 ram and 256 model?

Its really a mid range card for AGP/PCIE , but isnt the best AGP card out . The 7800gs and X1950pro are both better , the 1950 being the best agp card out at the moment .

The x800 is probably better than the x1600. I don't know how that compares to the 1650, though. Can't imagine it's THAT much better.
Definitely mid-range. About the equivelant of a Ge7600, maybe?
-
Ok real question is. Would I get a noticeable performance increase over my current 256 meg 9550?
would it be worth the $145 (after trade in)?

Oh, hell yes!
About the same as going from a Ge6600 to a Ge7600GT. Big jump.
the 9500 series, while still functional, isn't up to par with the newer generations.

Yup I would take the x800 pro with the 16 pixel pipelines over the x1600 with 12 any day!

i've got the x800xt.....16 pipes and 256m mem interface...damn good cards for AGP. the x1950 is better due to it's higher core clock and memory

The specs say this card can be used in an AGP 4x machine. Would this card improve my performance from a 9700 Pro 128? I'm running an Intel 3.06 Northwood core with 1G RAMBUS and HT enabled. Funny thing is the game thinks my 9700 pro has 256m of memory.

I'm not an expert, but it's definitely the next "step up" and your CPU is fast enough not to bottleneck very badly. I'd say you'll have better performance, but I'm only 90% sure.
-
I would think it would be a noticable increase bustr, the 9700 is dated .

BTW if you go to one of the CompUSA sores thats going out of business Dont buy the Radeon® X1650 Pro 512MB there.
They have it at a 20% discount
BUT
Even with that 20% discount its still cheaper at the ATI site full price.
In looking around there today I noticed for all their touting of 20-50% off
I didnt see a single thing I couldnt get cheaper online then with any of their discounts.
Im betting they marked their prices WAY up before then marked em down for their "Store closing" sale
