Would be nice to know whether to expect a change on this issue so we can all quit talking about it.
Some other companies go so far as to include an "unresolved issues" section in the README for their software updates, so that people don't have to go on reporting, investigating, or discussing these issues.
If I've missed an official statement, change the wish to "an obviously placed official statement." ;)

Whilst I can appreciate the wish for feed back from HTC on the subject.
My experience leads me to believe that the lack of any statement defending the present "dark tiles" would tend to indicate that HTC are "working on it" but presently unable to announce an actual solution that has been achieved.
I assume that the texture of every tile used on the current terrains would have had to be changed. This inturn may have interacted poorly with some of the textures on new objects we have.
Even at the highest priority It may take more than a few days before HTC could announce they have a solution that meets all the needs of the present terrains and what they have planned for future ones.
Presently I have faith in HTC that it will be corrected (made better).
I am sure some QC checks will be put inplace so it does not happen a 3rd time.

I consider "faith" to be a last resort in the absense of fact. In this case, the absense of fact is unneccessary, and thus, there should be no need to resort to faith.
It would take 30 seconds to put a post up saying, "Yeah, it's a problem, we're working on it." (Or perhaps, "This is exactly what the world looks like out of the tinted windows of my RV8.")
This 30 seconds would save everyone a lot of time and hastle. Besides the nice warm and fuzzy feeling that the players would have (as opposed to railing on the boards, and logging in every day hoping in vain for a new patch,) it would also save a lot of time for HTC staff (by not clogging the bug/support forums with rants about the problem - presumably someone is paid to read those forums), and for the folks on the terrain team and skin team who have tried their best to figure out what's going on, and make inteligent posts and demonstrations of the problem.
I mean, c'mon folks. What's the big deal with just making a quick post? Sheesh.

Perhaps they aren't working on it but instead waiting to see if the situation settles before determining a course of action, if any.
It would be counterproductive for them to post a message saying "We haven't decided what to do, if anything yet and won't until the dust settles". Can you imagine how the boards would light up then?
Not saying that's the case but it could be.
