Title: The Trinity Vote Thread.
Post by: BBBB on April 17, 2007, 02:06:58 PM
This thread is to see what the intrest in having Tinity back in the rotation would be. I would like to see this map in the LW arenas now that our numbers are up over 900. Maybe a weekend map, if that could be done. I think that would be a change of pace. The current map selection is getting kind of stale and rather crowded.

Yes.
And after a short time (a tour, maybe), have an ingame vote to rate how much (e.g. -5 to +5) each map is favored to stay in rotation.

I like that idea. I think that is going to be the best way to make it fair.

Better yet....

Get someone working on doing good jobs of updating those old maps to better than current standards.

The ones in current rotation are bugged, with holes, misplaced textures etc...

I think the small maps work well for arenas with under 300 players, maybe you guys should stop whining and make new small maps with the new tiles. Just a thought.

Vote = pointless we all know the gv noobies will vote for TT that is just duh... thats why vote for maps wont be good idea people will complain about game being to big maps taking too long to reset it will hurt cause the unpatient flyers who only fly when someone is attacking their base to start whinning and which one of us true flyer's likes whinning?

How about we get anything back and CHITCAN that fuggin' UTERUS map !!!

That has to be the most god-awful map in existence ... I see that map and want to puke ... so I leave to go to another arena ... and it's there too ... AWWWWWWWGGGGG !!!

I would like to see some sort of control file between all servers that keeps track of what map is active in what arena ... and when a map resets, it will check to make sure that it will reset itself to a map that is not already active.

Nothing worse than finding all arenas loaded with UTERUS !!!

We already complain that the maps take too long to reset because of the reset rules...and it drives many to just furball and not worry about the reset at all...so it takes even longer to reset...then we end up with Baltic or smpizza or whatever for a week (or longer, if someone at HT is asleep)

Not much fun. Not at all.

whats wrong with it? i think its one of the best maps in AH right now....lol only issue for me is ALL the fights happen at A1-A19 (i think? the left side) all because the bases aint 12 miles apart lol.

Trinity i would love to see return, however the big issue is there still isnt really enough players during off to have large maps, but there is too many on peak......  But this is kinda why Trinity works "ok" because its got less land area, and rather small front lines to fight on, untill you are back to the HQ area.

I used to feel the same way about Mindanao . . . . still do, as a matter of fact.

And I haven't seen it in ages.

Yep.. wondering why we did not see it for a long time (But unlike you, I'm quite fond of that map)

HT won't let the arena caps go over 500 any more, so the large maps won't work, just not enough player to fill them out. And no there is no point in bringing up "Why can't we have 700 people in the arenas again?" question because  everyone knows HT believe it was destroying the game with the huge "horde" type fighting.

In stead of wasting time complaining you could put that time into building new small map and submit them. With all the time wasted on the boards we could have what, 20-30 maps in the rotation :D

It's more difficult to produce a small map that is balanced, fit for different aspects of the game (GV wars, CVs, ect) and more or less unique, than a large one.

One thing I do miss a bit: Some old large maps had some nice strings of Vbases far away from airfields, were sometimes huge and long tank battles occurred, especially when the vases were grouped in pairs. On small maps airfields are so close to the vehicle bases that it's most of the time a pure air-to-ground battle and constantly dropped hangars.

At least update the Terrain Editor to the new format so some go-getters can build us some new ones. Please!

There were many times when the big map populations were only in the 300+ range.  It wasn't a problem then, why would it be now?

And there no hoards now?  Where have you been flying?

Roger that! :aok The hoards are still here. They will always be here. And I remember logging on back when we had one MA and only seeing 150 or so players on. I never had trouble finding something to do.

we have more players per mile now, then 700 on a large map, so why wont large maps work..? as long as theres lots of sea area im sure it would be ok?

Yea, what they said!! :furious

Don't forget Donut though.. :)

Honestly just something different. I know Fester is working on a new one, but lets not wait that long, lets at least put some of the old maps back into rotation until the new ones come out.

Guy's some of you keep talking about; "if you don't like it make a new one"..problem is, if we do make a new map we won't see it in game for months. Look at how long the new skin pack has taken. I love HTC, but they are notorious foot draggers. The big maps are already out there, they are already tested and ready to go. No need to wait.

I like the idea of medium sized maps for the weekends. I also wonder if some of the existing big maps couldn't be cropped (say, cut off the outer third of land area and bases, move HQ around, update the terrain, boom- new map). Yeah, I played with the TE once, I know it's not quite that easy, but that would seem to be a simpler way to get some popular setups back without starting completely from scratch.

I miss Mindanao- why'd that one get yanked? I'm beginning to hate Uterus, although the A19/1/2 fight normally offers some entertainment for a bit.

it's easier said then done,
TE is a real pain in my butt to use,
you try updating it, or maybe someone from HTC  could do it for their company:aok :O ,

i was halfway through a SMALL map and it took me 4 months to get to there so i gave it up, it's not my job to make something i pay to use better.

and yes, i would love to see some larger maps back, not neccesarily the 'HUGE' ones yet tho....

the real losers here are the guys who put HUGE efforts into those large maps, i don't know who they were but they did a great and colossus task :aok , and now theyre just rotting away in some folder un-used, and why can't we have two arenas of 700 caps available?......

i thought we split arenas to 'let the game grow'.. and it is :aok
i was never a fan of dumping the old MA but i've grown to live with the fact HT doesnt want 1 arena with everyone in it, i can see the point and the idea behind it.

but not allowing the 2 late wars with a 700 cap available just INCASE  (it would rarely be enforced even at peak times, there just aint that many guys on at the moment) it's just a shame, in my opinion.

And i'll say whats more of a slum, horde fest, and all those other insults our MA took,, 500 people on one small map making a turkey shoot, that's what's really not fun and dull.

all in all, allow 700 ppl in an arena WHEN it is needed and start pumping medium/ large maps into our system.

could be considered a thread jacking but it's not, it's just considering what might be stopping big maps being allowed back.

just my 2 cents and a little bit more
