I feel that with all the threads boo-hooing & all the gun ban BS etc. floating around I would just like to say this man; Professor Liviu Librescu deserves all the honor the public can bestow on him. I have yet to see a thread on here from all the concerned O'Club posters celebrating this mans actions.
So to you Professor Librescu I say God bless you man. You were a hero, your memory will be respected by me. I only hope that if I were in the same situation I could make the same sacrifice or that if any of my loved ones faced such a situation there would be a person with the fortitude you showed.
to your memory.
-
Cannot disagree with that at all.
The man is certainly a hero.
-
Yes I have to agree with you.
I believe there is a phrase that describes his sacrifice. I don't know the actual one but here is a paraphrased version.
Greater love hath no man than he that lay down his life for others.
Professor Librescu, you were a true hero. Rest in Peace sir, you certainly earned it.
-
100% agreement. His heroism was a bright example of the potential of the human spirit.
-
Definitely a hero. No doubt.
-
Someone with balls and worthy of emulation. Gotta wonder why the pile of pig dung, Bung Hole, is getting more ink and air time than this man. There's a prime indication of how screwed up we are.
-
Cant agree more , the man is a hero ...And for as to why this hero isnt getting the press time that he deserves and everyone is concetrating on the sick git that did this ....tis easy ......blood sells .....
Im sorry if this offends , this is my belief after years of dealing with the press in other equally upsetting times .

definition of an ordinary man who became an extraordinary hero
-
John 15:13
"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."
-
He did something that few would even consider. Godspeed Prof. Librescu.
-
There is no doubt he gave his life to save many others. A true hero.
-
I don't know what this professor did. I don't watch the news much and certainly less so when they glorify the actions of the worst our society produces. I'll google professor librescu to inform myself fully but from what I gather in reading these posts the professor must have intervened during the VT shooting spree and massacre.
-
Librescu threw himself in front of the assailant in Virginia Tech College, blocking the entrance to his classroom and saving the students inside.
-
The door to his classrom could not be locked, so he used his body as a wedge to hold it in place while yelling for the students to jump out the window. The gunman fired through the doorway repeatedly, killing him, but he had given his class enough time to escape.

Yep, that's what happened. He bought the students enough time to bail out the windows with his life. The measure of a man right there. His family should be very proud of him & so should the rest of us.
Does anyone know if he was a U.S. citizen? I know he was of Jewish decent & his son lives in Israel. If he's a U.S. citizen (I'm not sure if that's necessary), I think the U.S. government should posthumously award the Pres. Medal of Freedom to this man & any others in that massacre who it can be proven gave their lives in a similar manner.
-
yes, he is a hero.
-
Brenjen,
The news tonight listed him as Isreali. I agree with you on the medal. Good idea there and I think it should be the subject of a letter / e-mail storm to the Whitehouse to get it done.

He is a true hero. I just listened to a witness say that he was shot in the face by the gunman.
